I guess one good thing is that it's a dead period for coaches right now, so other coaches can't be in recruits ears right now.

The NCAA being pissed they let the Tat 5 play last year and deciding to make a statement. First bowl ban ever for a FTM (the Bobby G stuff). The tat 5 stuff is done and was done with the recruiting sanctions, suspensions and firing.

I'll eagerly be waiting to see how future schools are punished for similar offenses.

If the NCAA is going to stay consistent, which I doubt they will, South Carolina could be majorly fucked.

But at the same time, this will be all over ESPN for the bowl season so the recruits will still hear it.

This is an opportunity for Meyer to get the team together and teach them about "Plausible Deniability". Also, from here on out, coaches and players communicate via private email accounts. No more use of University email. Each player is encouraged to purchase a Tracfone to converse with anyone outside their immediate family. The NCAA has very little power to get information that isn't handed to them upon request.

Notre Dame still gets recruits despite every bowl season them losing their bowl game. OSU will be fine and continue winning, can't say the same for ND.

Hearing it on espn is nothing like hearing it from a coach. Not even comparable

+1

For all I know, South Carolina has been banned from a bowl for the past decade.

Schad mentioned something that osu is pissed because they offered to sit out a bowl game this year if they thought a bowl ban would be coming and the NCAA and its legal advice said there wouldn't be one...now they throw the bowl ban down and fuck Meyers first year up

Communicate vio private e-mail accounts? Wrong. All communication should be done in person. ;)

Any university that self reports from now on is a fool. This was driven by media pounding the table and little else. There is no precedent for this; the NCAA is continuing to make crap up as they go along.

In the future, I hope if OSU finds itself in trouble they simply lie, delay and don't cooperate. Get the boosters out there and buy off witnesses, if necessary. Why comply with an organization that isn't consistent in its punishments and can be influenced by some biased reporters with an ax to grind?

As for Ohio State...first order of business is to fire Gene Smith, because he bungled this beyond reason.

Absolutely, why comply with an organization that has such little power in the grand scheme of things? Also, I agree, Smith needs to be doing his last press conference today, but I hope he gives the NCAA holy hell on his way out!

"I'll be shocked and disappointed and on the offensive," Smith said in July of his reaction if there was a bowl ban. "It'll be behavior you haven't witnessed (from me)."
Yeah, what now Smith?

No shit. Basically, "no, don't self ban yourself this year! you're not that good, so you're going to a bitch bowl!" we'll just fuck you up the ass for next year, when logic dictates you'll be better, since this year was an anomaly."

OSU asked them before accepting the Gator Bowl bid and the NCAA said "no ban"
