I don't want this to turn into a huge debate about the good and evil aspects of major religions, but I want to know if people believe in heaven and hell. I'm teaching a lesson on hell and just wanted some feedback.

Just to be clear here, I'm talking about heaven and hell as actual destinations after death. I'm not talking about realities that people experience here on earth or some philosophical idea, but rather actual realities for every person after death.

So please, vote in the poll, and leave any feedback you'd like, but let's try our best to stay civil and respectful of the beliefs of others.

I know exactly how this thread will end up but I believe in both and have ever since I was a kid. Its just what I was taught.

As a place? No. As a spiritual state. Yes, I believe in heaven and hell.

I believe in Heaven and Hell. The quoted comment above is probably more how I feel, but I would still consider the place I spend eternity after my earthly death to be a "place".

I think this concept is really what I was trying to explain in the opening place. I'm asking about heaven and hell as eternal realities for people's souls after death, not as some philosophical idea or state of being during life. Rather heaven and hell as spiritual "places" where our eternal souls dwell after death.

After I made the poll I realized I should have added an option for "I'm unsure whether I believe in the existence of heaven and hell."

I KNOW that no one knows what happens.

That said, heck no I dont believe in it. I think Im gonna get burned and have my ashed dumped somewhere on earth.

This is what I hate about this subject. why not sit down, and actually think for yourself on how it sounds to YOU. Not what someone taught you years ago. If you think about it, and actually believe in it, then that is better than just saying "oh i was taught that at bible study(probably by a pedophile), so i believe in it"

I suppose. But that would mean that they have died, seen it, and come back. If you believe that can happen, you probably believe in Heaven and Hell. Kind of similar.

No, I don't believe that my "soul" will spend eternity in a metaphysical location based on whether I was good or bad when living. I'm too logic-driven to buy into it.

I'm really hoping someone on here believes in hell but not heaven though.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I am open to the possibility that someone else might be right, there might be a heaven and hell, and there could be someone alive who knows that. But I would probably not believe that person if they told me,
