Honestly this story makes me want to quit following recruiting and quit using twitter. I read these kids tweets and read the boards about their lives and it's making me almost feel stalkerish after this story. It's fucked up amd just gross. I wish AA the best and hope he makes a good choice.
This isn't osu's fault in any way. There's no way to monitor these things. For all these people knew he was just a fan who's around a lot. But def is bizarre and just plain disgusting.

I'll rep that. Don't have a twitter account and don't intend on getting one. Following recruiting is a pointless endeavor, get back to me on signing day.

I love recruiting. It's fun. But this story added with fans from all schools that when a kid doesn't committ to their school or decommitts and people send them hate tweets or messages. It's just ridiculous. The access is just too easy. I HATED what happened at PSU and even though this is nothing even remotely close to that, it still sickens me.

I have to be honest, if I were an OSU fan, some of the comments from Anzalone and his father in this article would really concern me.

"There's a disconnect between what Alex thought was was there (at Ohio State) and what is actually there," said his father, Dr. Sal Anzalone.
"Something's just not right at Ohio State," Sal Anzalone said. "It's not for him."
"I had to make a decision that's best for me, and for my family," Anzalone said. "There's a reason behind it. I don't want to get into it; I don't want to hurt anyone.
Sal Anzalone said that his son had expressed his concerns that "something wasn't right" about his visit shortly after returning from Ohio last month.

Has Jenson had his day in court yet? UM does accept federal funding and is currently being investigated by the Department of Education for possibly violating reporting laws, so I don't know if I'd pick that stone up.

That was a big embarrassment and black eye to the university. Unfortunately for you it has nothing to do with OSU or the topic of discussion. Should have know you couldn't handle a discussion about it.ytownfootball;1162935 wrote:http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/01/31/report-u-m-waited-6-months-to-report-child-porn/

What do you mean "was", the investigation is still ongoing, and what exactly are you discussing? Your faux concern? Sounds like Anzalone wasn't going to get any playing time so decided to go elsewhere to lose bowl games.
What a whiner. He'll fit right in at the losing culture at Notre Dame.

Is, was, whatever. Has nothing to do with anything here. I'm not casting stones. I didn't make the comments. Alzalones did. And don't give me the "what are you discussing shit."ytownfootball;1162944 wrote:What do you mean "was", the investigation is still ongoing, and what exactly are you discussing? Your faux concern? Don't get your yellow pee stained panties all wadded up lol. Honestly, from everything I've read thus far (tons of it cuase I'm bored tonight) there really seems to be only one answer, and that's that Daddy really didn't want junior going to OSU and this gave him an easy out. At this point, that seems to be the consensus anyway. Until something more plausible comes out, if at all, there's nothing to discuss as far as I'm concerned.WebFire;1162950 wrote:Is, was, whatever. And before we start with the "but, but, but, what about violations?" crap...
http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/sports/2012/05/04/Ohio-State-football-recruit-decommits.htmlAn athletic-department spokesman said Waugh is not associated with Ohio State or the athletic department, and because of that, there is no potential NCAA rules violation.
“Oho State will continue to monitor this issue, and it will remain proactive with its efforts in regard to precautions taken on behalf of its student-athletes,” the spokesman said.

First of all, LOL @ this being a discussion. Quoting a de-commit's father and saying "I don't know about you guys, but if I were an OSU fan this would really concern me!" is not having a discussion.
Also, how should that concern us? The kid didn't like OSU. Period. He'll pick a new school and OSU will pick a new recruit. Nothing concerning there at all.

This could have happened anywhere. Sucks it happened at OSU, but it's not that big of a deal.

In the link I just posted, Alex was pressed by the Dispatch and said he doesn't want to say, doesn't want to hurt anyone...ie Dad. Just speculation but if you're not going to OSU who the hell you going to hurt that you give a shit about?WebFire;1162960 wrote:I admit the whole thing doesn't make a lot of sense.

Except that isn't true. Look up the definition of a booster from the NCAA.

This is true. I'm still confused what about this made a kid decommit.DeyDurkie5;1162963 wrote:This could have happened anywhere. Sucks it happened at OSU, but it's not that big of a deal.
1. Recruit hangs with guy while visiting. Gets pic taken.
2. Guy later charged as sex offender.
3. Recruit decommits even he didn't know the guy was a sex offender when the pic was taken.
That doesn't make sense to me.
