Considering (1) we're not a representative sample (more educated/affluent than average America), (2) these are 2003 numbers, so they're likely higher, (3) we're going to have self-selection bias, (4) we're pretty close to those numbers as it is, and (5) we're dealing with a small sample size--I think the poll numbers above are likely accurately reported. They don't jump out as immediately off-base.

If 20% of OCers claimed to make $500K or more, then sure, I'd be suspicious. But I wouldn't be surprised if 20% of the people responding to this poll are some combination of doctors, lawyers, engineers, small business owners, etc. who make an upper-middle class income.
Out of that 16%, how many families do you guess are single income families?? I agree that dual income families can pretty easily get to the 100K mark. It's fairly unusual, at least where I live, that an individual makes over 125K a year. The vast majority of individuals are going to fall in the 30-60K range.

82% is a vast majority.

If you respond to the survey, be careful. Justin will now know your income and will impose a revenue sharing for the upper income brackets.

I don't even know what a script is, but this won't end well.

According to the poll we have 32 people that make less than 60k, and 27 people that make greater than 60K. Those numbers just seem a bit skewed to me.

I don't see why, $60k isn't an outrageous salary or anything. I'd say roughly half of people I hang out with on a regular basis make $60k in a year. It would be higher, but most of my wife's friends were from her days working at UC so they aren't making much.

Perhaps it's the areas in which we live, that give us different opinions on it.

You also live in a suburban area, where COL is higher, therefore salaries need to be adjusted accordingly. In my neck of the woods, $60K is quite comfortable. I'm sure my mortgage is about the same that many people would pay for a small apartment in a suburban area.

If you have a couple of kids, $60K doesn't go that far. I would say that is typical middle class income.

This is a good point. $60K may be very comfortable in one area, but not all that great in another. We rented an older apartment that was fairly modest (2-br) and paid about $1600/mo. for it. A typical, not fancy, 4-br home here costs well into the $300-400K range. A similar home where my brother lives (Tulsa) costs about $150K, while where my parents live in BFE Ohio, it's about $90-100K. The COL differences between places can be pretty significant.

That's because Ohio is a very low cost state, even the large cities are fairly reasonable with respect to living expenses. $100K is chump change in NYC, Chicago, Bay area, etc. Teachers and blue collar workers can easily get close to 6 figures (if not exceed said figure). I'm not surprised by the figures in the poll, given the diversity and educational backgrounds of posters here.

Right. There are probably plenty of people on here living in suburban areas.
