Welcome to ND Coach Kelly!

BTW, I love all the haters and crying UC fans who all of sudden are calling Kelly a piece of shit for making this move.........guess what, deal with it! The guy made a career choice for more money at a very prestigious place, what's so bad about that? I guess anyone who makes a career move to better themselves is automatically a piece of shit.

fail.

cincy might have been one of the hardest places to recruit at in the entire midwest.

Yeah, good post. The one thing I will say again is that Weis dispelled a lot of the recruiting myths.

It seems we heard all these great things and all ND fans had high hopes just 5 years ago, I hope that your faith isn't misplaced because college football and especially midwest college football need ND and Michigan to be good. I know that BK has been successful at all levels his whole career but this will be more pressure than he has ever known. I hope if he wins a few games next year that ND doesn't go crazy and give him a 10 year contract like they did with Weis. My gut feeling is that he is not the anwer that ND is looking for but we really won't know for 2-3 seasons from now.

I'd have thought that between the ### ###### and this one that you'd have learned this by now.

My God! We agree on something Lemio! He's definitely not a piece of sh*t for bettering his position in life. And the $15M buy-out ND will be paying him in about 4 yrs. should go a long way in helping him better it even more.

Yeah, I agree about recruiting, Rock. Not saying I 100% agree with everything he said but he's insightful and states things well. It would be nice if that were the norm on here.

lol are you serious?

lets see:

no indoor practice facility
a 35,000 capacity stadium
average facilities in general
poor academic resources in comparison to big ten schools, notre dame, etc
competing with ohio state for local talent
below average recruiting budget
below average recruiting resources

what advantage does cincy have exactly?

lower admission standards (allegedly)
and
?
?
?

if that single factor is what makes it easier to recruit there than notre dame or ohio state or michigan or penn state or even illinois, northwestern and iowa, i have heard it all.

btw, notre dame has had higher rated recruiting classes than cincy has every single year since they started keeping track - even when willingham went golfing 3 times a day

why would this suddenly change?

I think why people are hating on Kelly is the way ND & Kelly went about it, if I rember right OSU let Cooper coach the bowl game before firing him & then did a coaching search. I know it puts you behind in recuirting, but that would have been the best way to do it.

The best way for who? ND owes nothing to the players at Cincy, they need to do the best thing for THEM and that is hitting the recruiting trail ASAP.

If ND is the best ever to play football,as a lot of people on here believe then recruiting should not be a problem

Whatever the case, why would you purposely set yourself back by a month?

The HS seniors and juniors who are looking for universities to attend don't give a flying fuck what ANYONE on this board or any other board say or think. The key is the new coach getting to them one on one and bringing them to ND and thats what we're on the path to do now.

Kelly is a good for for nd. He should do well. Seems like nd got a coach who always held the nd head coaching position as a "dream job."

On the flip side, maybe we can finally put the urban meyer "dream job" rumor to bed.

We misunderstood one another. I took it in the context that you were saying that Cincy had higher academic standards than ND. That was my original point in that when it came to academics, BK would, and will in the future, have higher standards driving his recruiting plan of attack.

I will admit here I was wrong. Just in listening to his passion for the game and his outlook and his direct approach, I think this is a great hire.

Yeah I'm enjoying listening to him speak. Wow what a difference from listening to smug Weis for 5 years. Kelly's press conferences should always be entertaining.

The way the UC players are responding, I wonder which way the bowl preparation goes. 1. Do they work even harder than before to prove a point? or 2. Does Florida name their score both offensively and defensively?

I understand the business, but this man coached two bowl games in one year. He more than likely couldve recruited for ND and coached this game. But I don't fault ND for not accepting this. Maybe ND shouldve accepted a bowl bid....the pros wouldve outweighed the cons. Typical elitist activities.
