Wow, Edsall? I can only see it if Kelly said no, because he would be way down on the list. Only one year with a winning record in the not very good Big East will not translate to National Championships for Notre Dame. I would be pretty upset as an Irish fan if they made that hire.

I think Edsall has done well at UConn. It isn't exactly a place known for its football prowess. I mean he's no Brian Kelly, but you have to respect what he's done

Yeah, I will say that having decent seasons at some schools that are far from football powerhouses can translate to becoming huge names at big schools.

Like how Mack Brown parleyed a couple strong seasons at North Carolina to winning one (and possibly two, depending on January's game goes) National Championships at Texas.

Still, with that said, for a program that prides itself on it's traditional position in the CFB landscape, you'd have to think that Edsell would be more of a "can't get ANYONE we really want" sort of pick, as he's not a big name by any stretch of the imagination and it's hard to imagine anyone getting fired up by him being hired and thinking, "YES! We're gonna be back in the mix RIGHTNOW!!!!!"

I would not go to ND if I was Kelly. The spread is very hard to implement. Being a Michigan fan I don't see him doing well in his first few seasons. ND is not built to run his style of offense and it takes years to get to that point. Kelly can go anywhere in the country in a year or two so I don't see why he is jumping at this opportunity. Cincy already had the athletes needed for Kelly to implement his offense. He is a great coach but the offense is not going to work for years if he does go to ND.

Notre Dame has better athletes than Cincinnati, have you seen their recruiting classes the past few years? Just because Weis was not a very good coach does not mean they do not have talent. I am not an ND fan but Kelly will go in there and win a lot quicker than RichRod at Michigan. Michigan was not doing well in recruiting for years.

I guess you're the picture of quantity over quality. Come on, you've been doing this whole, "LOL I HATE NOTREZ DAME!!!!1 LOL!!!!!!111!111ONE!!!!!" thing for a long time and the "5* coach" comment is frighteningly bad, even by your standards. You can do better...

So.....does that mean that Te'o became, like, a 7* after he committed?

One of your better ones? Yikes... Don't worry though, we all got it. It wasn't funny, but we got it.

I'm going to be honest cc, I don't mind you there are some rare times when you've made me laugh too. Was just letting you know that wasn't your best effort.

Troll you around? I only post in Notre Dame topics my good sir. Ya know, earlier you hinted the two ND huddlers were gay and now you want me to follow you around. I wonder what Freud would say...

I think we now know where cc gets his "Notre Dame 5* jokes from"

ccrunner at the bar: "whoa brah you see that chick?"
friend he paid to come with him: "yeah...what about her?"
ccrunner: "c'mon brah, shes like a 3* hottie."
friend: "yeah..i guess"

the next day...

ccrunner: "dude that chick I roofie'd last night was totally a 5* babe."
friend: "didn't you say 3* before you bonked her?"
ccrunner: ".....dude fuck you."

I'm not real sure why you always like to bring up OSU when someone, mainly CC, is talking trash about Notre Dame. Generally you post intelligently, stick to that instead of lowering yourself to the trolls levels.

Also, when USC went into the Shoe, they weren't unranked, they were top 5 I believe.

I'm convinced it won't be Kelly. I heard some information last night regarding his situation at UC and am now about 95% sure he'll stay. Again I will eat crow if I'm wrong, and unfortunately I am not allowed to pass this information along, but its definitely big. It is however possible for ND to match, but I don't see it happening.

I have inside sources saying that Brian Kelly will be taking the job at Notre Dame...unfortunately I can't reveal who the source is or why they know he's accepting the job, so you all will just have to take my word for it :D

A lot of crazy rumors running rampant through Cincinnati late last night and this morning. Half saying that he is staying, half that the contract with ND is signed and he is getting on a plane late tonight for South Bend. Either way this officially ends today for Kelly, he will surely meet with the team before the banquet to tell them of his decision. At which point all hell will break loose in Clifton or South Bend. I have a good feeling about this for UC, but it is only 8:40 and the team banquet is not until 7

It's funny how everyone has inside sources that differ so sharply. If you read the UC and ND board the past couple weeks this has been going on non-stop.

I do believe we will all have an answer by the sports banquet tonight.

Will be interesting for sure. I was reading somewhere that UC wasn't exactly extending themselves to try and keep Kelly...which was disappointing to Kelly. Which would obviously make you believe he is headed to ND. If true, I wonder why UC hasn't made a HUGE effort to keep him, pay him or whatever?? I honestly think Kelly is headed to ND unless they were unable to work things out for whatever reason.

He's still ND's 3rd choice no matter how you cut it. Weis was what... their 4th choice if i remember correctly? So essentially BK Burger is a 7th round draft choice since Willingham got canned? You'd think more people would be interested in coaching the most prestigious team in college football wouldn't you?
