Well, what did everyone think of his debut?

First, seriously his name is Deangelo? Strange... I thought it had its funny moments but for the most part it was awkward. Almost as if the show was improv'd by having the cast sit in the office and act normal and then have Will come in and say/do something wacky.

Could go either way but with the writing like it is, don't expect much.

I think some of his stuff sucks but some is classic. He has done lots of work. I saw him and his group leaving Talladega. The race was rained out and he went right by me, so we said hi and by to each other as they kept going through a crowd to a van parked by a small bldg. under the stands that I was working out of.

While Michael Scott was wacky, Carrel played him with enough sincerity that it was believable that there could be someone who actually was that awkward. Ferrel on the other hand plays every character like a cartoon. He's so outlandish it's unrealistic, which is part of the reason all his characters seem similar. For me, I don't find that character very funny..

I agree with this to a point; I think this is true for all of his characters when he is the lead role (which is why I don't really care for HIS movies). On the other hand, he is awesome in small doses as a side character (see Old School or Wedding Crashers) where he is just funny ant not too over the top.

The show last night was one of the weirdest shows I have ever seen. SMH. I watched 2 minutes of parks and recreation afterwards (I have never watched it before) and I laughed more than I did for the whole episode of the office.

I caught Parks and Rec on Hulu and ended up watching all the episodes. Very good show

IMO, it's run it's course--Farrell may be good for an episode or two, but that's about it--sure had a great run though,eh?

Prepare for more guest appearances... http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/04/the_office_paul_lieberstein_ca.html

Some major names guest star on the show in the next few weeks: Will Ferrell, James Spader, Will Arnett, Ray Romano. Did you worry about the show becoming too much like Will & Grace, with stunt casting galore?

Usually my feeling has always been, "No giant guests for single episodes." That's the rule I've been going by. I feel like you can't lose the fact that they're a giant celeb in a single episode. But over multiple episodes, a character emerges you can start to believe. The thing about many celebrities — not all — is that they're fantastic actors. If we've created a really juicy role, it just feels like a fantastic actor should be playing the part. If it's a long enough part, we consider anyone. If it's a single episode, we don't usually let a single actor on. Because that' s just stunting.

Now, in the finale, we do have some very big stars for that single episode. But we're asking people to believe these people are in consideration for a spot that can't go to an unknown [actor] — or that it's very unlikely it would go to someone without Steve's experience. It seems a lot easier to believe James Spader is truly a candidate for the manager position because he's someone who could easily get that job in the fall. In the real world. It's a lot to ask in someone to completely suspend their knowledge of how television works. With Spader or Will Arnett or Ray Romano or Catherine Tate, it's easier to believe this is someone who could be in contention.

For some reason I LOL'd when Andy was doing all of the crazy stuff in the kitchen trying to make Ferrell laugh, and out of nowhere says "here, eat some soap".

LOL--when I was watching that scene, "Old School" instantly came to mind

For everyone who says Ferrell plays the same character, last night proved you wrong. Totally different character for him, and I liked it a lot. Great episode. Sorry I do not hate the office because it is now the cool thing to do.

I actually like Ferrel's "manager" a whole lot better than Carrell. Carrell's character is painfully awkward and not believable at all and is the main reason I have never been a big fan of the show. The show has its moments, but for me few involve Michael Scott.
