And Delhomme was signed as a free agent before Carolina's impressive 2003 season. Prior to that, he had thrown 3 career TDs and 5 INTs. Hardly "franchise QB" status.

LOL.

Mike McCoy is staying in Denver, per Adam Schefter.

Who would be other possible candidates to come in as an offensive assistant? And has anyone heard the latest on Dick Jauron or anyone else as the next DC?

So Kurt Warner wasn't a franchise QB either?

Yeah, you were right.. Don't know why I said Carolina. I think Carolina improved over 2 seasons after their 1-15 season and ended up in the Super Bowl.

LOL @ your fail.

Kurt Warner took over when Trent Green went down. He didn't start that season as THE guy.

He was then used a few stop gaps in NYG and Arizona... Only he turned it around in Arizona and had a few really good years.

However, I guess by your definition, Kurt wasn't a franchise QB and St. Louis never stood a chance with him taking over... Since you know, he was a back-up before that.

What?

The point is, though I thought it was clear, that one can not say that Cleveland cannot have a big turnaround season because they don't have their "franchise QB." How would one know that? Couldn't the same have been said about Miami, Carolina, and now St. Louis?

Potential impact on the coaching staff. Philly fired their defensive coordinator per Adam Schefter. I asked if that may affect Dick Jauron to the Browns. Hope he replies haha...

How bout' we don't hang the guy before he even steps on the field. I wasn't at all excited about the Mangini hire at all. Holmgren contacted Cowher and Gruden. It obvious those guys are not ready to return to the NFL as coaches. Maybe they both have decided it is alot less stressfull in a suit and tie in the booth then on the side lines. Those guys weren't available. So then what we go hire another guy that just got fired in Fox?. I don't know if this is going to work but I am going to trust Holmgren I know that. So far he's done OK. He shoulda just fired Mangini last year but he didn't. As for Colt McCoy well I think he's got it and I look forward to watching him play. Don't remember who said it but somebody said it is obvious Bradford is better then McCoy. Is that right? What's so obvious about it. Colt did fine in the games he started. Next year will be better. I think he gained valuable experience in those games. I just hope Hillis stays healthy and can duplicate his performance another year. I say GO BROWNS can't wait until next year.

I do wish they would keep Rob Ryan. Probably not going to happen though.

Well good for him. That means we let a good one get away but I can see where he doesn't fit the Holmgren mold. Too bad but I gotta believe they'll bring in somebody that can do the job. I hope anyway.

We will find out. I'd like somebody who wants an aggressive run stopping defense. I'd like to be able to stop the run for at least one season while I'm alive.

Me too. Gotta be able to stop the run in our division. We gotta have faith in this administration. We've never had a Holgrem so we gotta give it a chance. This will be a telling year I think. We may not make the play off's but if we are competitive I will be happy.

Just watched the entire presser. If was pretty impressive and I like what I heard. Time to get behind this guy and hope for the best.

I'm fully confident with not only Holmgren, but Heckert too. I think we have the talent to draft us good talent, and help develop players.

Aggresive defenses are always successful in the NFL....and the perfect examples are within our own division (Steelers and Ravens) As we saw in today's game, 3 minutes left in the game and the Ravens have the ball on the Steeler's 49 yard line.....instead of playing the prevent (which prevents your own team from winning) The Steelers dialed up the blitz on 4 consecutive plays and got the ball back to win the game.

As for Heckert....he knows how to evaluate players and get the right guy on the team. He was a very very very good hire and I am glad we have him in charge of our personel.

I think we have to also get a WR coach that knows how to coach the NFL WR.....no more of this No name college coach who is the head coaches buddy......we saw how that worked out, and because of it our 2 second round picks haven't fully developed like they could've if they had a good position coach.
