Fairwoodking,
Maybe I should re-phrase it. Not EVERY gay person got kicked out because they wanted to. I'm sure there are some who fall into the category of telling someone they were gay and then were kicked out. However, I don't know why anyone would offer that information out. You can be gay, live gay, etc. but if you don't say the words "I'm gay" you wouldn't have been kicked out. Even if it were 100% obvious you were gay. However, once you say it, then you are going out.
I am NOT making up any story. I'm sure if you spoke to many chaplains they'd tell you the same thing. The top two things people do in the military to get kicked out are to say they are gay and to "sleep walk/wet the bed." The second would show there is some sort of psychological issue and is a sure way to lead to a medical discharge.
I have no reason to lie about such things.
In fact, it used to be a joke that chaplains would use, that if a person claimed they were gay, the chaplain would make them prove it by kissing another man or putting an announcement in their hometown newspaper. If they were willing to do that, they could be processed out. The reason why it was such a joke was because you'd be surprised at the number of people who came claiming they were gay when it was time to deploy.
