In 2008, Perkins was a viable option at center combining with Garnett to neutralize the Laker's frontcourt.

Being viable in terms of championship quality and being elite are two different things.

Dynasty, Duncan IS a center, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, same with Pau. And if something has proven true for the last 12 years, at this point in time, wouldn't you consider it necessary?

Don't forget Leon Powe, who split time at the 4/5 during the '08 title run and dominated the Lakers inside as well.

I knew there was someone else, but couldn't remember who. He played really well in the playoffs that year.

What?? Dominated?? he scored 37 pts and had 19 rebs in the 6 games COMBINED. He had 1 good game where he scored 21 pts because the refs thought he was D-Wade and put him on the foul line 13 times.

Leon Powe definitely didn't dominate.

Skyhook, I think Perkins was/is a viable center not for what he offered on offense, but for his viability in defending downlow against the the Lakers.

Jordo, Gasol is taller, more physical, and has a MUCH better back to basket game than Bosh, and for those reasons I think he's a much better center than Bosh. Bosh is not a center in any sense of the word, he's just a PF who likes to shoot and occasionally go to the hoop. Nothing wrong with that, don't get me wrong, I think his offensive game is really good, I just don't think he's what you can depend on when you talk about needing a championship worthy center.

And in order to overcome that obstacle, you need a truly transcendental player, ie Jordan, although Utah that year didn't really have a championship worthy center either (Foster/Ostertag? come on).

I don't think Lebron is truly transcendental because of his attitude. Kobe and Jordan exhibit that attitude, and Lebron doesn't. And I didn't realize that until now because, I can admit this, I was blinded by love for Lebron, and ignorant to what the naysayers were saying.

Using Whitlock to back up your argument is an instant fail.

How many times did he say "I just did the damn thing on Chris Bosh"?

Yo I'll take whatever backup I can get lol.

I'm not necessarily using Whitlock to prove anything about the Heat, moreso my point of how soft Bosh is, which backs up my point how you need a big man who's not soft to win.

Maybe he can use Paul Milsap to back up his argument. The Heat are paying a guy $15 million a year to be their #3 option on offense, and play shitty defense. I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

The Heat will be fine. People are ready to count them out as fast as Cleveland fans were willing to give them the title last year. It's a LONG season. There will be ups and there will be downs. Teams better get to them now, rather than later. They're individuals right now. In 5 months, they'll be a team. Good enough of a team to win a ring? Eh, we'll see. I'll be arrogant for once... only the Lakers or Celtics can take them out in a series. Orlando cannot, and will not. Letting Howard go off is exactly their plan. It worked quite well already. Only a TOUGH TEAM will a KILLER can beat them.

Nice to see the bandwagon heat fan who lives in Chicago is back.

It's nice to be back. Guys like you always make it fun for me. I've been a Heat fan for LONG time now. I was a Heat fan before they ever made the playoffs, before they won a playoff series, before they won a title, after they won a title, while they were the worst team in the NBA, while they were a mere .500 team, and before they lured in the FA's. I'm actually shocked to learn that there was a such thing as a Miami Heat bandwagon fan before this season started. People usually save that type of stuff for teams that actually win and win often. Since I now live in Chicago, you may want to try and say that I'm a bandwagon Bulls fan. I mean, they do have 6 titles since I've been born. That seems like the more logical team, does it not? But anyways, nice to meet ya like_that. I never knew you even existed, but it appears you've seen me around. Thanks for the greeting.

Some people just pay more attention than others. Not surprising that it's one of the few good Cleveland posters I looked forward to reading. Think about it, I stuck through a 15 win season with RICKY "Go F*cking Kill Yourself and NEVER Be Missed" DAVIS as the Heat's best player for 60+ games. You Cleveland fans (like_that, I apologize if you aren't a Cavs fan) know how tough that can be and can at least respect that I lived through that and continued to be a fan. I LIVED through Ricky Davis, I think that makes me more diehard than bandwagon.

You don't have to defend yourself. There are just a couple ignorant posters who won't allow anyone to be a fan of a team outside of Ohio.

Anyhow...back on topic...I do not like the Heat's chances against the Lakers. It just seems like the Lakers are the one team that can offset the matchup problems the big 3 present. The Celtics are interesting as well...with their age, health is the concern

Aww still desperate to find some butt buddies? I will take my comments back on jpake my bad. But you, lmao. Who is your team? All you do is troll on Cleveland threads, then act like a little girl when everyone puts you in your place (omg what did I do?!?!?).

Jpake has been a heat "fan" from Chicago. Nuff Said. I bet he's pissed that he couldn't front as a bulls fan when they were gifted Rose from the NBA.

Without question, the Lakers look to be the best team right now and could coast through the western conference playoffs. They just have all the pieces and are obviously proven.

As for Miami, I do think that they match up well with everyone in the East. Boston is probably their biggest threat, but I just have to think that by playoff time the Heat will be more polished than they are now.

Re-read his post, he mentions how us Cleveland fans know how tough it is to live through Ricky.
