I'm not basing this off a reaction of last night's performance, I'm using last night's performance as partial confirmation of why I thought as soon as the Miami Superfriends was formed that they really don't have a chance.
1) They have no size/skill combo downlow to combat the tops teams. Name the last team to win an NBA title without a viable big man....
2) Stagnant offense. Without a true point guard, the Heat will become an even more glorified version of the 1 on 5 Cavs offense. We saw last night a lot of standing around and not really knowing what to do. Will that improve? Probably. But not enough to the point where they can consistently beat the great teams.
3) No point guard
4) The pressure. They're going to bring out teams' best, and honestly, I don't think they can beat the Lakers, Magic, or Celtics unless all of the Superfriends go off.
The Heat could very well have the best record in the East, but come playoff time, there's a possibility they don't even make it to the conference finals if Boston and Orlando don't play in the semi's.
There's a reason that people with basketball knowledge (going by NBA experts here) believe PG and C are the two most important positions, and the Heat are awful at both, but excellent at SG, SF, PF.
