2003: #13 Ole Miss played 2 ranked teams, beating #17 Florida and losing to #2 LSU. They also lost to MEMPHIS and TEXAS TECH...Not exactly a sign of a good team, so I'm going to disregard them as being a good team. Tennessee lost to a 4 loss Clemson team in the Peach Bowl and got destroyed by the best team on their schedule, #11 Georgia 41-14. Not exactly good. My point stands true for 2003.

2004: #13 Tennesse went to the SEC championship. I'll give you they were good that year. LSU lost 3 times but needed overtime to beat a 5 loss Oregon State team and lost on a HAIL MARY to Iowa. Good teams don't lose on Hail Mary's. Mediocre at best.

2005: I can tell you that Florida that year was decent at best, definitely not a "good" football team. Auburn made use of an extremely easy SEC schedule, but lost their bowl game to Wisconsin and you could argue their best performance was a LOSS to LSU. My point stands for this year.

2006: Arkansas was DESTROYED by USC to begin the year, and yeah they had DMC and Felix, but nothing outside of that, losing their last 3 games. Mediocre, I don't care if they somehow made it to SEC title game in a terribly weak SEC west. Auburn was able to beat LSU and Florida, so I'd agree that Auburn was good that year, giving the SEC 3 good teams.

2007: Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn all had 4 LOSSES. No good team has 4 losses. My point stands for this year.

2008: Neither Georgia (who started the year #1, and had 3 losses) nor a 4 loss Ole Miss team were good. Georgia had individual talent, but wasn't a good team. My point stands for this year.

2009: You already conceded my point that right.


So in the 7 years we looked at, 5 of the years I was still right. Okay, so maybe top 15 is too arbitrary to determine a good team, but the SEC definitely only contained 2 really good teams those 5 years and decent at best teams the rest of the conference. My point still stands.

You are absolutely, ridiculously funny. Start a poll using my post with rankings and losses and this ^^ post and see who people agree with, even with you having 95% buckeye fans on here. The SEC is not, and has not only 2 good teams. They have been 4 good teams on average and better middle of the pack teams than all conferences. If the SEC is mediocre after teams 1 and 2, then why do they have such a high percentage of wins vs. other bowl teams who are at the supposedly same level?

So basically you're saying a good team loses 4 games? LOL at that logic.

IMO a great team goes undefeated or loses 1 game, depending on who the loss is to, and the quality of competition (ie the Hawaii team that got curbstomped by Georgia was not a great team).

A really good team loses 1 or 2 games, again, depending on schedule and who the loss is too.

A pretty good team loses 3 games, unless 1 or more of those losses are to teams they shouldn't have lost to or are embarrassing losses, extenuating circumstances aside (ie that LSU team that was clearly #1 but lost 2 games due to injuries for an analogous comparison).

Anything below that, IMO, is either decent or worse.

There's no such thing as a good 4 loss team. Someone who loses 33% of their games cannot be considered good. And that's why even a 3 loss team is a stretch for the word good, and that's why who you lost to matters.

Any questions? My point still stands. The SEC every year has either 2 great, or 1 great and 1 really good team, and the rest (occasionally there will be a 3rd pretty good team as conceded by my earlier post) are decent at best.

eh his rankings are heavily influenced by strength of schedule aren't they? I don't agree with Florida being #4, but they do have the 14th ranked schedule. Comparatively OSU has the 99th ranked schedule. I don't think OSU is #6 either. If this and all of the other computer polls in the BCS formula are similar, could we see Oregon ahead of OSU when the standings are first released?

In fact, I didn't even look at this thread until today, and then I responded. I do get on this site for other reasons than to stalk you, I like to read up on the politics thread from time to time but mostly the "serious business" and pro sports thread.

I do not have a problem with Oregon over Ohio St when the ranking come out. However Sagarins rankings are in the catergory of blithering idiocy. The BCS is utter garbage as has been shown and admitted by yourself when you state that you disagree with Florida at #4

Sorry, I call it as I see it. I honestly don't go for the two college thing at all to be honest. I think is BS. My loyalty, as with MOST fans, is with their university. Not just a "sport". I'll never understand it, get it nor buy into it. Thats my two cents.

And you have every right to believe what you want to. You didnt grow up in my shoes and we all are different. As you've seen on the basketball forum, many people like Duke and UNC in basketball but others in football.
