I have a feeling that the PAC 10 is the new Big 12. Score alot, no defense.....will get showed up in bowl games.

Just for fun here is a list of the 18 remaining unbeaten teams and their next opponent. Kansas State vs. Nebraska on Thursday Night, and Michigan State vs. Michigan will guarantee the list will go to at most 16 teams after this week.

Big 12 (5)

1. SEC (IMO, it's top heavy, but Alabama and Auburn are both top 5 teams to me)
2. Pac 10 (Oregon, Arizona, Stanford all good teams, only Oregon can compete nationally IMO)
3. Big 10 (OSU pushes the conference to get better and the other teams have responded (except Minnesota))

4. Big 12 (Other than OU and Nebraska, this conference is a trainwreck, IMO. they score 80 points a week on each other and lesser OOC teams but none can line up and play good defense for a whole game except the 2 i singled out)
5. ACC (VT disappoints, NC State and FSU surprise. better conference than the Big East because of the middle of the pack teams)
6. MWC (3 competitive teams and only a few dogs).
7. Big East (no team that really stands out as "the class of the league" teams like Pitt and UC have really disappointed)
8. WAC (BSU and Nevada really elevate this group. the others are bad teams for the most part.)

I'd somewhat agree with this. Although I don't buy into that HUGE GAP thing all the time. And after watching FLA get their ass handed to them again by Bama, and LSU dismal performance, as well as Georgia continueing to spiral down...I don't think the SEC is THAT much better then the PAC10/Big 10 to be honest. Auburn top 5? No way. They fall into the Iowa/Wisky and MSU category IMO. Arkansas maybe a top 10 team when its all said and done. Bama is certainly the best of the best thus far. Very similar to OSU in the Big Ten. And all we have heard in the past how many years is how that shows the Big Ten is so down as OSU continues to roll through the conference. If Bama is clearly THAT much better...that doesn't say much for the rest of the conference. Yes, still best conference...but that "gap" is closing.

We'll know more about Auburn when they play someone (weak OOC and iffy SEC schools so far). But just doing the "eye test" i like everything about that team. and I agree with you that the SEC is not as all powerful as people would have us believe, but top to bottom the Pac 10 and SEC are even to me. I gave them the nod because Alabama and Auburn IMO would beat any of the top 3 Pac 10 schools. And depending on how good teams like Indiana, Northwestern and Michigan State really end up being, the Big 10 could pass both of the other conferences.

you just going to post something like that and not give any rationale behind it?

while i disagree with 3-6 i'm open to hearing any reason why you'd rank them the way you did. especially putting the MWC ahead of the B10.



*i assume there is no rationale behind it until otherwise noted and discard it as trolling.

There's no way in my mind I can place that Pac 10 ahead of the Big 10

The Pac 10 suffers from the same thing they did last year and the same thing the Big 12 does every year....Offensiveitis. All offense, NO defense in the conference.

We saw it 2 years ago nat'l championship Florida vs. OU
Last year we saw it OSU vs Oregon and Texas vs. Alabama

I have a tough time putting a conference that doesn't know how to play defense ahead of a strong defensive conference.

How is Bama "THAT much better"? And "that doesnt say much for the rest of the conference"? Huh? Florida got beat by Bama handily, but Ark gave the game away to Bama. Last years Bama title team, had to win in the last seconds vs. this pitiful Tennessee team at home 12-10 (just like LSU did, Bama should of lost to LSU last year also who wasnt strong (but refs didnt give a clear interception to PPat). Bama is not clearly by themselves. They still have USCe, Auburn, and LSU on their schedule, with the opposing teams having 2 weeks to prepare. And anyways, each year its been TWO Sec schools that are at the top of the polls (different teams also, UGA, LSU, UF, Bama)...........so no, this isnt anything like OSU's case where they have been the top dog of a pitiful conference for years.

But every single year the SEC is just 2 teams and then the rest are mediocre. It doesn't matter which 2 teams they are, like you said it changes, but for anyone (including the SEC homer you are) to say that the rest of the SEC is clearly ahead of any other conferences 3-10 is crazy. Year in and year out its a bunch of mediocre teams that somehow find their way into polls at some point during the season that end up losing 4 or 5 games, not because of the "strength" of the conference, but because those teams really are mediocre.

Just for an exercise in futility, I took each poll and assigned a numeric value to each conference, a point per step up the poll you are, i.e. Alabama 50, OSU 48 and so on to Air Force & Northwestern 1.

SEC-182
BigTen-120
PacTen- 96
Big 12- 92
MWC- 75
WAC- 52
ACC-30
Big East, MAC, CUSA-0

first off . the sec is by far the clear cut best. why did i put the MWC ahead of the big ten? probably because they have more than one good team. the big ten has just one and that one hasnt played anybody yet. mich st might be better than advertised. i dont think anyone is sold on michigan at this point. big ten faithful rip the pac ten for not playing no defense, but michigan doesnt play defense. iowa and wisconsin once again prove to be overrated. ranking the big ten high would be like ranking the acc high back in the 90's because FSU was a member. i could have easily ranked the WAC higher than the ACC and the big east . those 3 are all lousy.

How is Bama that much better? First of all, its my opinion. I have watched most SEC teams play. LSU is shit, and you can't deny that. NO QB, pittiful offense. Ark is good, and as I said, maybe a top 10 team. But they were beaten AT HOME by Bama. Auburn, seen them play. They needed a miracle to beat a middle of the road ACC team in Clemson.

South Caronlina is good, but not top 10-15 good IMO.
As I said, I think Ark, S. Car, Auburn, Fla are equivelent to MSU, Iowa, Mich and Wisky in the Big Ten. I think LSU is equal to PSU to be honest.

Vandy, Georgia, Tenn and UK are NOT good, period and equal to the bottom of the Big Ten. NW is currently undefeated BTW and maybe Ill game vs OSU was a fluke, or maybe they are a bit better then what people expected. Who knows.

So yes, IMO...its closer then people expect and I happen to think Bama is head and shoulders above everyone else in the SEC. Of course that doesn't mean on any given day they are down, and someone else plays above their potential and gives them a game, or possibly beats them. South Carolina is probably catching them at the best time they could all season. We'll see.
I am sure you will disagree...but its my 2 cents. Hell, if the PAC10 played any kind of defense...they could be better then the SEC this year. I think the SEC, PAC10 and Big 10 are closer then people realize.

Just in the past decade Iowa, Michigan and Penn State as well as Ohio State had LEGIT shots at not only the Big 10, but National Championship, they all lost to OSU preventing them from making it, true, but saying OSU is the only contender in the league is pure, unadulterated, ignorantly biased bullshit.

Just the perfect idiotic response I expected. Let me dissect your illogical post one point at a time.


1. Teams 15-25 in the final AP poll generally aren't even that good, they're slightly good. Bragging about having teams in a final AP poll outside the top 15 is just HOMERish.

2. High percentage in BCS games? BECAUSE THEY HAVE 2 REALLLLLLLY GOOD TEAMS (AT MAX) every year. Didn't I concede that? That just further proves my point. Thanks dumbass.

3. LSU losing to UK/Arkansas. Oh god you couldn't have made this any easier. As an LSU fan you SHOULD KNOW that the only reason LSU lost that year was because of injury depletion. When completely healthy, they were by far the best team in the country. They proved it against V Tech and they proved it against OSU. Losing to inferior teams while injury depleted is not a sign of a deep conference.

4. Your "deep list" is going off of that LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama have all won championships? When was the last time Tennesee was relevant? When was the last time LSU was elite? 3 years ago? Cool. Florida is very mediocre this year after losing a ton of talent, and Alabama is still really good. So do you want me to say because teams were good in the past it makes them a deep conference? Good luck trying to convince me to say something that's completely and hilariously off base and illogical.

5. So that brings me to your last point. "The Bucks are going to win the Big 10 again". Well, you mention BCS victories. The Big 10 had 2 last year. So which is it? Is the Big 10 a one team conference? Or is it a deep conference because of 2 BCS victories like the SEC? Can't have both.
