cats gone wild;508953 wrote:You've been waiting because if you had any football common sense you wouldnt need an answer. Its quite simple. You are clueless in your post. You are trying to say that the SEC is 2 teams good and the rest mediocre. Why dont you look at the final AP polls every year from the early 2000's. The SEC has plenty of teams finished ranked. The SEC has a high winning percentage in bowl games and BCS bowl games, no one compares. Each week, a top SEC team has to be prepared, because most teams from the conference can knock you off (unlike the big 10). Example.....LSU gets beat by UK and Arkansas, wins on the last drive vs. AUB and UF, and wins the title with ease that year. You dont have this deep list of teams in other conferences. And...each year its always new teams popping up in the SEC as tough teams. The SEC has FOUR different teams as champions in the BCS era with another team who got ripped off. In the Big 10, its easy to say every year "whelp, the bucks are going to win the big 10 again".

And cbf....your post is ridiculous.

All this and still have a losing record to the Big Ten in the BCS era LOL

Which makes it a million times worse on being a homer. Liking teams from opposite conferences who hate each other with a passion. And oh, both teams have had recent success in basketball and football. I can guarantee you, that Ive been a fan of my teams for more years total than you have of your bandwagoning teams. And btw, my uncle played bball for USCe over 40 years ago.........should I be a fan of them this year in football? Ive had relatives who went to universities around the country, but it doesnt make me say they are my favorite team because of it. OSU, you are probably a legit scarlet goggle wearer, but UF was picked up within the last 5 years Im guessing. =homer

And your story of a paragraph up above, is what I would expect from you. Dittily squat to any relevance.

I guess if the SEC is picked as the top conference this year by every poster on this site, and every year..........its full of mediocre teams except the top 2. Riiiiiiiight, rofl! Anyways, back on topic.

"Liking teams from conferences who hate each other". This is the true sign of a homer. Thinking that other people care about conferences as much as them. I don't hate the SEC as a whole, I hate every single SEC team except for Florida. I don't hate the Big 10 as a whole, I hate every single team except Ohio State. Get a clue dude.

And until you refute my "story of a post", I'm going to assume since no one else has refuted it, I'm right.

And I've loved Florida just slightly less than OSU my entire life. I've gone as both Brutus and Albert for halloween before. But I guess true facts would cloud your sorry little homer mind.

So please, since I took the time to make you look like the idiot you are, please refute my post. And please, don't strain your brain too much, because I can tell you you'll have a tough time doing so.

I already told you how it was with facts. As I said, look up the polls. If its only 2 teams deep and rankings mean squat toward the bottom of the poll, then why did the SEC have teams ranked at these #'s (below) from 2003 with less losses than you said and plenty of teams ranked in the top 15? That's even after alot of teams played the "top 2 SEC teams" and a bowl game.

2003
#2, 7, 13 and 15 (13 and 15 had 3 losses)

2004
#2, 7, 13, 16 ( 13 and 16 had 3 losses)

2005
#6, 8, 12, 14 (12, and 14 had 3 losses)

2006
#1, 3, 9, 15 (15 had 4 losses but 3 teams in top 10 didnt)

2007
#1, 2, 12, 13, 15 (12, 13, 15 had 4 losses but all ranked in top 15)

2008
#1, 6, 13, 14 (13 had 3 losses and 14 had 4 losses)

2009
#1, #3

So..........basically, 2009 is the only year that fits your argument and partially 2007 (even though the teams with more than 3 losses finished in the top 15). Looks like its at least 4 deep on average for superior teams and below those teams, the SEC is still decent except for a couple bottom feeders, which all conferences have them.

Dont let facts get you in the way that the SEC is a deep conference and not only 2 teams each year. Argument is over! Troll on and spin on, but dont try to change facts.

If you come up with a "decent" argument, I will get back with you tomorrow in the morning.

The problem with the Big Ten is everyone beats up on each other so we aren't going to get a bunch of teams in the top rankings. When you play in a conference as tough as the Big Ten year in year out, then you can understand. And remember, A LOSING RECORD to the Big Ten, overall, in history, and since the BCS era.

All that, and still second best LOL

Soooooo when SEC teams beat up on each other yet they still have teams ranked higher than most Big 10 teams, the SEC is no better than the Big 10 since the BCS era?

Just trying to follow the logic!

I will say this. Although I think the SEC is the better conference (you can't deny the talent, just look at draft numbers), I think the Big 10 is at a slight disadvantage. Every team in the Big Ten is a cold weather team, which affects their style of play. SEC teams play in warm weather year round, and their styles are definitely more geared toward warm weather football. It would be interesting to see some of these bowl games played in the cold weather.

You'll never convince SEC people that this condition exists though. But the Big 10 does recruit or at least on the surface appears to recruit rough weather bodies.

Obviously they are going to recruit rough weather bodies, that's where their recruiting footprint is. They will get the occasional player from Florida or Texas or California, but the majority of their guys are going to come from Ohio and the surrounding areas. Same goes for schools in Florida, Texas, and California. The big programs all recruit their state very well and then get the occasional cross regional recruit. There is nothing wrong with that and there are plenty of good athletes in Ohio/Pennsylvania and the rest of the region.

It doesn't matter which 2 teams they are, like you said it changes, but for anyone (including the SEC homer you are) to say that the rest of the SEC is clearly ahead of any other conferences 3-10 is crazy. Year in and year out its a bunch of mediocre teams that somehow find their way into polls at some point during the season that end up losing 4 or 5 games, not because of the "strength" of the conference, but because those teams really are mediocre.

Still makes me laugh :)

This whole "they beat up on each other" argument may be the dumbest thing since "they aren't as fast." It's all mainly bullshit.

4- Big XII

5a - ACC

They only maintain better rankings because most people in the south don't have jobs, so they watch a lot of football. It's just the AP playing to the ignorant masses, ever met a smart SEC fan? I know I haven't.

Also, just for kicks. Check out these computer points for this year already. LSU #2 and OSU #16. Way too early to do computer points as you can tell.
