I read earlier where SOS called BR vs Creek a "rivalry", i was always taught that in order for there to be a rivarly the other team has to win !!!

To be honest, I do not exactly know all the specifics, but I would assume that Creek is well aware that playing Big Red will end up a loss. I know that BOTH schools brought up the discussion, it wasn't just Creek wanting out. I think that with the play-offs so close within reach last year, Creek wanted a sure-shot first game win where the points would be very helpful should we find ourselves teetering in the balance of a play-off appearance again.

IMO, its a smart but not so smart move. Yes we will get points with a win, but at the same time I believe that until you can compete with a Big Red caliber team, the play-offs will not be fun. Its possible to win a game or two, but the deeper you get, you find some of the states best talent of any division.

Creek is returning a team with big possibilities. I do believe that they will make a run for the B8 title and do no worse than 8-2. I believe that Big Red will also take a small hit this year (yes they will still be good and its possible they may not take the hit I am expecting) but I think that last years game against Big Red was a moral victory not only to score, but for the second and third team to actually cut into the lead. There is a good deal of potential coming back for Creek and I would have liked to have seen where it stacked up with at least one more game against Big Red.

I also think that the timing of the game was wrong and played into the cancellation of the series also. This is a game that has no business being played in week 1. Unfortunately the B8 schedule limits Creek forcing the game to be played between weeks 1-3. I'm still not sure how I feel about the game not taking place though... I guess if we want to play Big Red this year, we will just have to earn it in the play-offs.

Not all rivalries are measured in wins and losses after only 3 games... But you are still posting on an IC thread trying to stir the pot, so I guess its a little more than just another game. Especially since this thread is the largest in the HS Football Forum...

You are the one that said "IC/Wintersville is a heated rivalry that will never die" , thats more than 3 games !!! I stir cause of haters !!! When people say BR to me its like putting my name in your mouth ... I dont like it !!! Oh BTW if BR vs Creek was "This is a game that has no business being played in week 1" and later in the season when BR hits stride ..... OH BOY

SOS-- You do have to admit that Creek came into this series with their eyes wide open. In 2007 Big Red had just gone through two 15-0 seasons and won the state championships. We had at that point a 30-game winning streak including wins over some very good teams. Creek hadn't done much of anything during those years. When Creek requested a 4-year contract with us, you surely must have known that you would take a beating. I think you should have requested a 2-year contract just so you would see how things would go.

I urge Creek to pick up a good team every year. It doesn't have to be Big Red, but it should be maybe Dover or New Philadelphia or Marlington. You aren't going to be ready for the playoffs unless you play someone tough in the regular season. Playing Buckeye 8 teams doesn't prepare you. We learned that this past season when all three B8 teams that made the playoffs lost in the first round, including two teams that had home field advantage.

I wish the best of luck to Creek and hope that we meet up in the playoffs.

I am not even going to respond to Woods' post and I believe you know why...

I knew coming into the contract it was going to be rough, everyone did. But the point of the contract goes a different route for IC then it does for Big Red. We all know where we stood starting in '07 and we knew it wouldn't be a very good game. The fact of the matter is that IC is trying to accomplish goals and become a better football team. We wanted to play Big Red as a measuring stick to see where we stood. We all knew that we didn't have much to stand on, but after 3 games we have gotten better even if in the eyes of the BR nation they can't see it. You have to start somewhere and you have to measure yourself. Last year I think the IC kids for the first time played a team that they knew was better and they didn't back down. They fought and never gave up. That is where we have to start, attitude. The right attitude provides the right building blocks. With last years moral victory, its time to apply that toward our goals of winning the B8 and making the play-offs. Rome wasn't built in a day and to think that IC football will not improve is totally wrong. There are some very good athletes with heart coming up through the system. These kids along with their parents have more pride in this school and team then most know. We are now starting to see kids coming up who's parents also went to Creek. I really believe that Creek will open a lot of eyes this year and continue to build off of last year.

I know there are a LOT of kids hitting the weight room daily and focused on contributing to this team. Thats a big turn around from 2-3 years ago. The players believe and they have heart... Guess we will just have to wait to see :)

SOS do you think Creek could beat Big Red if they played in week ten instead of week 1?

Obviously I'd say that would be a yes for any team. I'd say barring injuries..any team is going to be able to play better as the season progresses.

On any given day, any team can win. Big Red still would have the better team, but as Chiefs stated as the season goes on, everyone gets better. No one can predict injuries or other factors, but had we played Big Red this year, I would like our chances better than the 3 previous years.

Huh??? What facts are you talking about? All you do is ask questions about my personal life? Its really annoying and I've given you enough info about me on a public forum. Starting to wonder if your an identity thief or something... And no I won't give you my credit card numbers, so don't bother asking that stupid question either.

I've given 25 pages of creek facts that upset you. The personal question: where did you go to college? Answer: JCC Fact: Jcc is free (horizon grant), that in turn puts a wrinkle in your CCHS transfer to Creek ... so its time to stop haten on BR tranfers !!!

Theres no way to open the eyes of the blind. I didn't transfer because of sports. I transfered because I moved. I lived INSIDE the district and chose public school over catholic. Plain and simple. Thats not being a hypocrite. Furthermore I am not complaining about a kid making the same choice I did, I am complaining for TWO reasons... ONE, because of idiots attacking IC trying to exploit us as a horrible school, sports program, and bad teachers. TWO, because NO ONE transfers to Creek to play football... Unlike another school that kids do.The first complaint is the biggest... You don't want to hear it from me, don't play with matches. No need to downgrade a school because we don't have enough classroom space to have all the classes inside the school itself or because our football team doesn't have a state championsip.

I agree, but it contradicts when many BR people say that Massillon was a rivalry back in the day. This past season aside, BR posted a 3-37-2 record against Massillon during the "rivalry" years.

you need to learn how to read sos, in Creeks history kids have came to play football. When you where there kids came from CCHS and when I was there they came from BR. You didn't come to Creek untill they were good, so idk why you are trying to lie on here.
