OC > Yappi.... and I post on both sites.

I will acknowledge Yappi has more high school interest, but anyone that has posted on all the boards for any length of time understand the issues there. Years ago many of the posters from the $12 site converged to Yappi because it was felt that the $12 site catered to smaller schools across the state. Primarily it was the people who supported the DI schools in and around Cincinnati and in and around Cleveland. As someone else alluded to, a criticism of Yappi is that it is dominated by posters from the GCL schools in Cincinnati (and Colerain) and the Iggy/St. Eds in the north. The Huddle on the other hand idolized Steubenville, Youngstown Cardinal Mooney, Warren Harding, the MAC schools, Bellaire and Martins Ferry, Portsmouth and Ironton (the SEO people left a few years ago).

Hopefully the OC will strike a balance between all of the above and other schools and regions of the state which may have been under reported.

I post on and enjoy both sites. OC has much better for just about everything but high school sports, which is ok by me. I feel like OC gears more towards general forum and professional sports and I feel it does both much better.

I joined Yappi when I was first banned on JJ a couple years ago. I posted there for about a week. The site overall, imo, sucked.

I have a Yappi account (under a different name, since I joined there during the early part of the period where it was common knowledge that JJ's would ban your ass for being there under the hilarious "talking bad about us ANYWHERE is a DONG-able offense"). I still go there primarily to talk about the Pirates, as there's a good crew of loyal fans to banter with there. For high schools, it is what it is. If you're a fan of a big-school team, particularly in the NEO/SWO areas of the state, you'll have a lot of bantering. For small schools and schools outside of those two regions, you'll get a lot less discussion. While I was in ban-mode from the Huddle, I remember some Yappi users saying things about being worried that JJ's was getting mod-crazy because that might cause their NEO/SWO threads to be pushed down a bit by people talking about small-school teams.

This site has the advantage of more freedom of expression on non-HS boards. If some people take issue with how their styles of trolling get treated with utter ridicule, perhaps they should find a place where people haven't figured out how to react and mods might ignore the sort of passive-aggressive "piss off others" commentary they provide while delivering harsh judgment on anyone who tells them to go fuck themselves.

I was on Yappi for awhile when I got sick of the JJ jerk off fest. I never did understand why you had to say every game, "oh it's going to be tough for us...team x is pretty tough. Here's to hoping we can just keep it close." Yappi was the first place where I people would say, "you guys suck. We're going to kick the shit out of you."

I got in trouble over there a few years ago because a Mooney-Steubenville thread got pretty heated the week before one of their playoff matches. Mooney kicked the shit out of Steubenville, and I posted a picture of a Cardinal fucking that stupid horse from Steubenville in the ass. The picture was up for about a day before a mod finally deleted it. Someone had to approve every one of my posts after that...so I got sick of waiting a day or more to see my posts show up, so I quit going to that site.
