I don't know about Bexley's police force. I drive through that area on a regular basis and rarely see a patrol car. I Think Bexley's lower crime rates are an indicator of the income level of it's residents and not the presence of it's police force.

Btw, I have never driven through bexley and not seen a cop on patrol, I can go many days drivimg in the city of Columbus and not see a cop.

So if you don't think more cops will help, what is your solution? Just leaving it be is not an answer btw.

Actually the Eastmoor area, which is east of Gould and between Main and Broad is very nice. The Berwick area, which is directly south of part of Bexley is also very nice. There is a natural barrier on the west, Alum Creek. The trouble spot to the north , a huge apartment complex , has been razed.

I disagree. Houses in this neighborhood, which includes the streets; Harding, Broadleigh, Virginialee, Kellner, Broadmoor, etc...are very nice and very pricey.

Here is a link to a couple of houses located on S.Broadleigh in the Eastmoor area of Columbus.They are valued at 226,000 and 320,00 respectively.They are both in the Columbus City School district and the city of Columbus directly east of Bexley.

I never said I had a solution. I just don't think that more police will solve the problem. I think the problem is much deeper with no simple solution or, maybe, no solution at all.

Based on my daily commute around 33% of I-270, it appears we have lots of cops patrolling the Interstate looking for people not wearing seatbelts, looking for illegal texting, keeping a sharp eye on people going 66 MPH, pulling over criminals with tinted windows, and estimating speed when they can't turn their beloved radar guns on stun. I wonder what would happen if they spent time looking for criminals instead of writing tickets to mostly law-abiding citizens traveling to and from work earning a paycheck. Whoop...there it is....follow the money.

My guess would be that most crimes in Columbus don't happen during a morning or evening commute hours.

Are the cops trying to fill their coffers with traffic fines, probably.That's ok with me .I was rear ended by an asshole while he was texting. I say bust all the texters.

umm...clintonville, grandview, arena district, german villiage, short north, victorian villiage...that's more than a few others.

I was told on here how great Cbus is and how shitty Cleveland is by nearly everyone.

Excellent point.

Plus, you see some 16 year old black kid walking around in Bexley and every single neighbor is going to watch them like a hawk, so the opportunities just are not the same. The same kid walking down Parsons Ave. looking for a car to break into will be completely ignored.

I dont know Bexley personally, but from what it sounds like, what you just described is why criminals dont go into it. they know they'll get busted for tail light out or window tint or 40 in a 35. and since they have a warrant or whatever, they dont want to risk it. do you know for a fact they are writing tickets? doubt it, because way more warnings are given out than tickets. its all about perception, and you have been sucked in by it. you see someone pulled over and think ticket when in fact, most of the time, its not. it works on you and it works on the criminals, and it keeps them out of the town.

A lot of the murders are the younger kids going after one another it seems like. Fixing the school system seems like a good place to start. Granted now that they are all in gangs, putting them all in confined space will probably increase the murder rate significantly.

That being said, come take a trip down Vine St here at night. I'd walk with a sign saying 'I lynch black people, and other ethnic insults' in Columbus before dealing with those crazies down here.

I've seen people held at gunpoint in clintonville, grandview had a guy stabbed walking out of bar i remember, the arena district gets interesting with the drunks..

Basically High St just kinda sucks unless you are on campus.

I lived on Oak Street for a few months before I moved back to the east coast. The apartment was sick, HUGE 4-bedroom with a 360 degree view of Columbus (windows all around). But what a sketchy neighborhood. We caught some bumb sleeping in my friend's car, we saw numerous fights, and the closest place for takeout coffee with this gay bar/restaurant, with its signature dishes, the "Big Jerk Chicken Sandwich" and the "Big Meanie Steak." My boys and I would play rock, paper, scissors to see who went on the coffee runs haha
