Again, I gotta say Santana and Choo are going to be nice players. Hoops23 is right, not every team has two guys with that kind of talent. However, IMO you are only as good as the guys around you. Those 2 guys might be great but if the rest of the lineup continues to play like they have been, those two guys will begin to see fewer and fewer pitches. Especially with a turd like Peralta hitting 5th.

The main reason I found it funny was that there is a difference between being "good" and potentially being the best 2-3 combo in the league.

Carlos Santana, with 44 at bats in the majors, is the 3rd or 4th best catcher in the game.

And Shin-Soo Choo, who has ONE full season in the majors in which he hit .300 w/ 20 HRs and 86 RBIs (SLIGHTLY above average season) is one of the best outfielders in the majors.

Give me a fucking break.

I gotta call you out man. It isn't 1998 anymore. A season like Choo's is a very good season! Batting avg plus 20+ home runs is nothing to sneeze at. That's not easy to find. Heck look around the league, even the elite home run hitters are going to struggle to get passed 35 this season. As for the 1 season argument, did you watch today's game? Choo isn't a fluke.

Santana being a top 3 to 4 catcher is maybe stretching it though. He has had limited ABs, so you don't know how much longer he will continue to rake. Young guys prove how good they are after the "book" comes out on them. Santana is definitely top 15 right now though. I just know that I am having a good time riding him on my fantasy team

Okay, .300 20 HR 86 RBIs is a good season. Doesn't change the fact that his claim of being one of the best outfielders in the game is still ludicrous. Choo being a good player was never in question. No one is saying Choo is a fluke or that he isn't good. My problem is with him thinking he is one of the best outfielders in the game. I mean I understand the Indians are awful so Choo is one of their few bright spots, but come on..I could easily name ten outfielders better than Choo. EASILY.

Santana could be the best catcher in the MLB for all I care, to call him anything more than a PROSPECT is ridiculous...he's played in 14 fucking games. Give it time!

Ok that's a little more like it. I'm inclined to believe that there are some better outfielders out there. But there aren't as many as the casual fan would think though.

I like Choo and Santana a lot. What's not to like? But come on guys....Choo may not even be an All Star this year. As for Santana....more proof that bringing a guy up too early is a myth.

I think he is the only option the Tribe has to be an all star...no one else other than Talbot is doing anything what so ever.

Being an All-Star doesnt belong in this conversation though...

As for where Choo ranks among OFers in the MLB. I can, without bias, say Id place him right around 10, probably just outside the top 10.

Santana, yeah its early, but he has been MVP I think 3 times in his career (for the given league) so he does have a track record. Not like a prospect who isnt heralded coming up and lighting the world on fire early on. I am NOT saying he is ever gonna win the MVP, just that the track record would suggest he is closer to being as good as he is showing than he is to being way worse than he is showing. Also, 90% of baseball knew him before he was called up (im talking involved in baseball.....not talking fans here).

It isnt a stretch to think Choo might actually be the best 2 hitter in the game right now. I really cant think of anyone that is CLEARLY better, as in an argument cannot even be made for Choo. Pedroia bats second right? Hed be the one guy you'd be hard pressed to put Choo over.

And finally, S&L, the one full year is a pretty bad argument. It understand where its coming from though. However: Longoria; Pujols; Pedroia; Etc. were all considered or are considered GREAT hitters before they played 2.5 years.
