I dunno who I’d rather have between those two

Always the guy who was already on the team and not being traded, imo

Weak career politician Dewine and his GOP legislators green lit Jimmy and Dee’s $600 million gift to build their NFL playground in Brook Park. We put up half (without our consent), the Haslams take all profits, Cleveland is on the hook for tearing down the old stadium, and a crapfest franchise/company gets rewarded for its horrible track record.

They did all the voting at 2:00 am. Going to cost my hometown school $1.4 million in funding over the next 2 years.

I know this isn’t a politics thread. So I’ll just say that I cannot understand awarding a business entity that had displayed such poor results over such an extended period of time. I would like NE Ohio to say fuck the Browns and the NFL. We’ll keep our two teams that actually do positively impact the local economy AND give us something to cheer about from time to time.

NFL is a boring product of TV commercials anyway.

I’ve kind of kept this to myself because no one likes that guy, but I couldn’t be less excited for the NFL. A lot of that has to do with the fatigue of the Bengals being the Bengals.

Conversely, I’m counting down the days until CFB. Every Saturday I can’t get enough of it. A lot of people hate what CFB has become though.

Yeah, CFB is an unwatchable product unless it is my team playing, imo. Horrible defense (or, unstoppable offense), only a few good games a week, way too long (though the new clock rules a few yrs ago have helped a lot). End of the year when the playoff race heats up, I love it again. But I couldnt care less about most of the games to start the season.

Buckeye through and through, but I can feel CFB going the way of CBB for me. I used to love watching the Buckeyes at St. John Arena. After the one-and-done era started (and the Schott), I lost all interest in a matter of a few years.  CFB is going that way for me. If the National Championship of  2002 was a 100 on the scale of excitement for me, last year was about a 50.  I used to watch CFB all day on Saturdays. Now I only watch the Buckeyes and not their BS West Central Kentucky Nursing games.

Maybe it's my age, but I think the way CFB is going, I'm lost. NFL  lost me a long time ago. My problem with the NFL/Browns is I don't want to be paying for their dogshit product.

I don’t have a CFB team. My Alma mater doesn’t have sports and I never got hooked into OSU. So I can watch any game or team without caring too much about the outcome. Laley is right, some weeks are duds. But the NFL can be the same way.

The NFL is expanding the windows of games way too rapidly. The benefit of the NFL had always been you can have 5 duds at 1pm, but if 2 of them are great, it doesnt matter. Now, with 2 MNF, a London 9am, TNF, SNF, Saturday games, etc. The amount of standalone games is going up and when they suck the public feels it. And conversely with more standalone games, the 1pm and 4pm traditional slots have less games. So chances of them all sucking also goes up.

But the NFL has nailed the speed of games and clock. They rarely take more than 3:15, and usually less. The betting is also much easier to get into than college, because the games have known entities and track records. In college, how TF do I know if Alabama is gonna beat Grambling State by 66.5 points? Its technically a toss-up -- but not the same way the Peyton Colts being 14.5 pt favorites over the Frye Browns would be...

In Punta Cana right now at resort and older guy in front of me in the burger line asked me where I’m from…..turns out he’s 30 miles from me in Athens and retired long time coach at Mater Dei in California….coached Matt Leinart and many others. His son is the current head strength coach for the Bengals and are right beside us today. I’m not standing beside that shirtless bastard….but my wife sure does seem happy

I don't know what you look like - so I didn't mean to imply you were this guy. I just know how I feel when I'm next to some young buff dude at the hotel pool. I feel like this guy.

Congrats on 45 pounds. That is life changing loss and very badass to complete.

2nd time in 3 years the Jets QB ruptures an achilles before the season really starts. Seems too odd to be a coincidence.

I just looked up why Twitter was talking about Joe Namath's deal with the devil and, whoa, the Jets just can't have nice things or even the hope that things might be kind of okay.

Also, disappointed ESPN is on the verge of acquiring NFL Redzone. Can’t wait for them to ruin it.

“7 hours of commercial free football starts now. But first, Mike Greenberg joins us to preview the Jets MNF game against New England. And at the top of the hour, Stephen A. Smith is joined by Tim Legler to debate LeBron’s place in NBA history if the Lakers can win the title. Then Stephen A. has thoughts on if Brian Schottenheimer and Dak Prescott are on the hot seat. In the third hour of commercial free* football brought to you by ESPN Bet, Pat McAfee and crew are joined by Nick Saban to discuss Alabama’a 49-7 win over Mercer and if they should have won by more and what this means for the SEC.”

Nevermind. Now they’re saying it’s a toe injury.
