I've been lucky to not really have any memorable physically painful moments.

posted by geeblockYea sometimes my episodes vary from mild to extreme. Got it in the knee once and it was hell
Most people get it in their big toe. If its mild in toes it isn't "that bad".
I get it rotating in almost any joint. Have had it in toes, ankles, knees, elbows, fingers (right now in thumb), etc.
Achilles heal and knee is by far the worst, and I typically get it in my ankles or knees myself.
I wouldn't wish gout on my worst enemy.

I am currently on vacation and have a medium episode going on as we speak right in the middle of my foot . But I’m drinking a ton and eating seafood which are my triggers. I have meds with me but I’m trying not to take them

Yeah alcohol and shellfish are bad for it.
If the medicine you have is colchicine, you have to watch that due to what I said above about the side effects.

Did you get a blood test to know it was gout?
Most people who only get it once or mild, get it in their toe (big toe).

Yea that’s why I don’t want to take it. I do also have indothromycin which helps and has less side effects. The good news is after 5 shots it doesn’t hurt lol . I’m trying to avoid abuterol or whatever the daily dose stuff is but they are now recommending it for me

No one here is surprised you were able to shake it off as a mere annoyance. You're hard as nails. Audie Murphy was a pussy next to you.

Yes...
I will soak it in a hot bath (with epsom salt) to dull the pain first then ice it afterwards for the swelling.

I've never had gout, but I have friends and acquaintances who have and their experiences sound similar to what I've read here. Well, except for CC's (SHOCKER!).
As for me, like Justin, I've been lucky enough to avoid anything I'd call extreme pain. I mean, compared to stuff like gout and kidney stones, "that time I banged a toe off a dumbbell and yelled 'FUCK' really loudly" doesn't exactly rate.

Back.
Have had many a ailment over the years from broken bones, cuts, concussions to torn ligaments, but back issues were the absolute worse. At least the others I could find some way to be comfortable but a bad back effects pretty much every movement.
