I went out yesterday. 88-41/47. I was +1 (on back) through 14, and I completely fell apart on the last 4 holes. Bogey, Double, Quadruple, Triple. Damn near playing the round of my life through 14.

Submitted my application to join the club today. I have to wait for board approval apparently.

Tee ball get you? Approach shots?
Play 15 holes at +7 and you are feeling the 80-81 score....9 over on your final 3 holes yikes

Anyone close-ish to Cincinnati interested in getting together to play a round? I’d be willing to travel an hour or two to a course that was central to a group willing to play.

I am doing something on my downswing where I am opening the club face. Not just pushing the ball, but hitting it directly to the right, mostly with my irons. My game was on point (for me) until 17 (just poor scoring before that), and I had three straight terrible iron shots. Pushed all three. Ruined the round. I honestly have no clue why I'm doing what I'm doing.

Opening your hips way too early, maybe? I get that problem now and again.

I think I may be bringing baseball into the golf swing, too. As I try to replicate it in a practice swing, I think my hands may be coming towards my hips why before the club.

Common issue is starting downswing too quick. Try pausing for a split second at the top so hands don’t get ahead of the club.
Although, that’s typically more of a slice issue...

Slightly shorten your swing....exaggerate drag of club straight back 6 inches in grass behind ball, keep eye on grass right at the back of the ball, shorten swing slightly.
Multiple ways could help. Gold scoring is all about damage control

Even though you prob hate me, I’ll be back in cinci next wknd playing in a Father’s Day outing. I’m free Friday, and I’m sure I could get Dey Durkie to play.

I don't hate anyone that isn't a dirty commie. I could probably play next Friday, keep me posted.

What course are you playing for the outing?

Shaker run
Looks like we’re out for Friday, sorry. Parents have plans with us, so no warmup round
Honorable Admin
I forgot Shaker Run existed. That was a decent course the last time I played it close to a decade ago.

Yeah it’s great. We played it last year, was a good time. Have 36 people in, fathers and sons. It’s a tricky course, but doable.

Joined the club officially today. No golf yet. Went swimming with the wife and kids though. First round is Sunday.

96 on one of our local courses here in NW Ohio. It was my first time ever under 100. It helped that I had an extremely lucky and 'Brady-like' Eagle from about 70 yards out.
I just started golfing last June, but I've got the bug now and have slowly been improving whenever I can get out. Starting to just play it a little safer each shot and not trying to crush every single shot. I still have my moments where I will get my 9 or 10 stroke hole, but doing better at limiting that now to only one per round.
Golf is hard.

Nice job! Mid-upper 80’s should come in due practice. Golf scoring is all about damage control.

Where did you golf?

I shot a shitty 96 today. Took an 8 on hole #1, then followed it up with a birdie (3) on #2. Finished with a 9 on #18. Fuck this game. I hit the ball much better today. I just suck around the green so damn bad.

Sugar Creek in Elmore. Course was in decent shape for the most part.

If I could stop 3-putting on my usual 5 holes, I'd finally have a legitimate chance to get into the 80's.
Hopefully by late summer/fall I can put a round together.

Shot a 52 last night. Didn't have a single penalty stroke until the 9th hole. I was just missing on a lot of my approach shots and duffed 3+ chips which I'm usually very consistent in hitting. I also missed about 3 putts that should've gone in. The way I was swinging the club it felt like more of a 43 or 44 type of round.

Played a tough course (Bolingbrook) in the Chicago burbs on Saturday. Hit the ball beautifully for 7 holes, then the wind went nuts (semi links style). Lost 7 balls in 12 holes (5 in 6 tee shots). 2 hit water but the other 5 couldn’t have been more than 10 yards off the fairway.
Ended with a 92 on what could’ve been best round in about year (mid to low 80s). I lost a ball in lateral hazard on 580 yard par 5 and ended up still with a par. I’m still upset I didn’t score better hitting driver and irons as solid as I was. Not to mention some solid chips to tap in for once!
