I like this deal. Cribbs is good because he plays hard EVERY play. Give him a contract that can really get him up there in $$ but keep it very heavy with incentives

i don't get the cribbs camp here. the browns gave their initial offer that would blow them away if cribbs signed for it knowing full well that he wouldn't accept it. now the cribbs camp can come up with something that would blow them away if the browns accepted it knowing full well that they wouldn't accept it. meet in the middle and you have yourself a compromise...this is called negotiating, cribbs camp. you don't take your ball and go home after the first offer comes in that you might not like (especially when you have no leverage)

i have complete faith that holmgren will get a deal done when he gets around to it...you know when he isn't focused on hiring a gm, figuring out what to do with the head coach, etc

Also, keep the bonus money low so that it works out to be a 6 year deal, so if something occurs in the future, you are only paying him by the year.

You can bet that all the other FA's out there are watching how the Browns treat their best player. "Hey, come here to Cleveland where we treat you like garbage!"

No different then any other team. This stuff goes on everywhere. Look at the Brandon Marshall situation in Denver and countless other places. Year after year.

I think 1.4 million is a great deal for a ST player. I get it, Cribbs is our best player, unfortunately, a ST/gimmick player is not going to win you championships, so why tie up a bunch of money in a gimmick player? He ran for 300 or so yards, and returned 4 TD's and you want to give this guy 3 million a year?

1.4 mil will be a good offer if Holmgren decides not to run the WC next year.

Cribbs is strictly a ST player if you take out the wildcat. He isn't a WR and will never be one.

If the Browns continue to use the WC offense more, Cribbs turns into a solid offensive weapon who will get more touches per game. Salary increase to around 2.5-3 mil.

I'm not sure many FA's want to go to Denver right now either...But also, Brandon Marshall's antics during training camp alone helps make Denver's stance make a little more sense. Whereas, Josh Cribbs acted as professionally as you could ask any player. He has had multiple Front Office personnell promise him the deal (Including the owner!). FA's notice how Cleveland is treating their best player, who has done EVERYTHING we have asked of him...

Another thing to think about guys, if there's no cap next year, what does it matter? We're one of the wealthiest teams overall thanks to Lerner. Is another 1 million a season going to make that big of a difference?

I'm thinking that when this is all said and done, he's going to get a 2.1M deal with incentives for offensive touches and KR TD's.

I'm a big fan of incentive laden deals, myself. Not that he hasn't been consistent, but it basically makes you only spend money that you got something out of.

That being said, I think the Browns will push for no more than 2.5M with incentives.

Browns need to rip up the old deal and pay the man. It's that simple. Make it incentive heavy if need be. But just pay the man.

Management has put a piece of shit product on the field for a long time. Show the players (and potential FA's) that excellence will be rewarded in Cleveland.

It would also appease the die hard fans that winning players are much appreciated here.

I think 3-3.5M is fair enough, certainly deserves more than 1.4

Let me start off by saying I like Cribbs alot and love him in Cleveland. That said, he is being a bitch. First of all, it is 4 days after your last game. Settle the hell down. Also, they low balled you because it is called negotiating. Maybe you shouldn't have signed a 5 year deal 2 years ago if you were gonna bitch about it after 1 season. Does he deserve more? Absolutely. But he needs to chill and let things work themselves out.

You don't follow Cribbs or the Browns much do you?

A sub par season? The guy averaged 27.5 yards per KR, which is tied for 1st in the league for players with 40+ returns, and tied for 3rd with players with 30+ returns.

He was 4th in 20+ yard returns, and 1st in 40+ yard returns along with having 3 KR TD's.

In PR's he was 1st in 40+ returns and 4th in 20+ returns and had a TD.

In 55 attempts rushing he averaged 6.9 YPC as well.

Pay the man.

Or what the hell...let's just throw him on the trade block for shits and giggles. San Fran has already said they will concentrate on special teams in the off season. With them having 2 enticing 1st rd. picks, I would say Cribbs could be had for 1 of them. So why not stick him out there? We have nothing to lose. We have him under contract for 3 more years. If he wants to sit out, so be it. He'll be paying $10k /day to the organization to do so. Its more of a loss for him than the organization at this point. He cant and wont single handly take us to the playoffs.

Also it is a valid point that IF they do run the WCO, Cribbs will have nada to do with the O. That is a big IF they run it. The Big Show already said he is willing to run whatever works best, not necessarily the WCO.

your right about the cap , but in 2011 the owners plan on locking the players out , in hopes of getting a cap back in place. so they dont want to get in too deep on long term big dollar deals
