I think if someone wants it bad enough and is willing to die, its not as hard as you would think to kill a president or anyone for that matter.  Probably shouldnt be as easy as it was in this case tho lol.

It definitely shouldn't be this easy to kill a President. But in general you are right, its not hard to kill most anyone else.

Most ordinary people aren't expecting someone to pull out a gun, knife or let off an explosive. President's and Presidential candidates should at least have their head on a swivel knowing there are lunatics out there. Been a while since we've had one, like the Trump incident, but I'm frankly surprised it's been so long between attempts.

Being in a very rural elementary school it just seems like an all-time zero chance and we practice all the measures as much or more than any big school in any big city. During every lockdown and practice I just think…..not a thing in the world to stop anyone from shooting dozens of kids at recess or dismissal when 300 kids get onto 6 buses over the span of about 4-5 minutes

Honestly, I am, too. Things are getting more divisive and politicians seem to be more and more into just pandering to their base while acting like bickering children and also having their "social media influencer" fans turning things up to 11. Really fosters the sort of climate where it's easy to expect people to decide to go after them due to the growing divide combined with how it gets more and more difficult to even pretend a lot of those clowns actually deserve respect. Add in the publicity whore aspect of things and it really becomes a surprise, as it's not like there aren't opportunities for a dedicated nutjob to shoot his shot.

When I'm most skittish is probably when we go to casinos. I've always thought that would be the perfect location for some whacko to detonate a bomb or go off on a shooting spree. Most of the security in those places is built like Peter Griffin.

I would guess a country concert or NFL game

After 2 years in a row aid finding 10+ guns in the school, we finally have metal detectors and x rays. Even more importantly there are alarms on every door so students can’t go in and out, let people in, or order door dash. It’s inconvenient as a teacher to get in and out when I need to but I feel much safer.

The success rate on st least hitting the target even with presidents is extremely high off the top of my head.

The door dash comment makes me lol….I don’t think there is a door dash place within 12 miles of our high school

That director needs to be fired. Right now. Reinstatement pending at the conclusion of the investigation.

The SS needs a complete overhaul at this point. As somebody pointed out before, there's just been too many incidents and shenanigans with them over the years.

I don't keep up with this sort of thing, so I ask, what is this all about?

If Trump doesn't win the election, and especially if he were assasinated, Trump Media is basically worthless as right now he's pretty much the only draw on Truth Social.

So people shorting the stock is being claimed as proof of inside knowledge of the attempt (same thing happened on 9/11, allegedly, though I'm not sure if there was any veracity to the claim).

But I'm guess Trump Media has, and continues to have, a large short interest.  It has been swinging wildly, so there is legitimate speculation in the shares that would have nothing to do with inside info, or even necessarily that he wouldn't win the election (even if Trump wins, the valuation on that company is still grossly out-of-whack).

How in the world do you see a guy with a rifle on a roof in a tactical position and not immediately take him out?

Because let's state what most would have considered a more obvious motive - a mass shooter about to kill dozens in that crowd.  Could have been a much larger tragedy if the shooter wasn't focused on Trump.

Seems like the widow of the deceased is going to be in line for a very large settlement.

26 seconds

26 seconds explains the odd single shot I heard much later after the initial burst.  Couldn't understand why there was such a delay.

So many questions.  If that fact set is true none of it makes any sense, especially allowing Trump to take the stage.

Shaping up to be a Kennedy-style conspiracy.  You've identified the shooter and still allow Trump to go on before you've neutralized the threat.  And then, somehow, the shooter is allowed to fire 2(?) volleys of about 3 shots...only then 26 seconds later does a sniper take him out?  Why wasn't the order given MINUTES earlier?!?

Hell yeah, John Malkovich was a great villain for Clint to go after in that one! Saw it in the theater when it came out.

I'm trying to figure out which conspiracy theory I've heard is most entertaining.

1. The deep state tried to legit assassinate Trump in order to get him out of the picture. By using a 20-year-old who presumably didn't have the sort of military training to be a legit crack shot.

2. Trump's team set it up to have a legit bad-ass moment (the pic of him throwing a fist up to the crowd with a bloody face) and also REALLY galvanize his base. While also using that same 20-year-old, where if anything goes wrong, he essentially self-terminated in a bid to get more votes.

It's kind of like if reality was written by an alternate version of Tom Clancy who had suffered just enough brain damage to where he could still write political espionage novels, but they didn't really make much sense.

Third conspiracy:  Kid was working with Iran.  Then the guy that got laughed off the school shooting team makes some sense.  But then why bother searching for porn that morning if you're about to meet 72 virgins?
