Ok yeah. See last post. Has to be Simmons.

Yep, former Cards star and Cards traded and picked up Darrel Porter who fans hated...until he became WS MVP. Cards also had 283 win Jim Katt and former MVP Keith Hernandez

Fingers won Cy in 81 and was killing it in 82 but tore muscle in late August and badly weakened their bullpen.

1st WS I watched

2020 by Veterans committee. Only reason I knew of him, tbh. Saw a Tweet about him and hits as a catcher. Forget how high he is on list, but 2400 has to be close to top 3.

I'm not familiar with him, really. I've heard the name, but didn't realize he was in the HOF.

Question #40:

This NON-Hall of Famer hit 35+ HRs in seven different seasons, topping 40 HRs five of those seasons.

He finished his 17-year career with a batting average between .290 and .300, over 400 HRs, six Silver Slugger awards, and two MVP awards.  He is top-20 all-time in career slugging percentage.

I wasn't even familiar with the name, but I remembered it from hearing about the ceremony.  I thought it was last year, but apparently not.

Albert Belle
Juan Gonzalez
Manny Ramirez

I know it's not Sosa or McGwire given the AVG requirement.

You guys got it.

The crazy part isn't that he's not in the Hall, since the voters seem to partially hold a grudge about steroid suspicions (though they let Pudge and Bagwell in).  The crazy part is that he's only been on the ballot twice, and he didn't get the 5% the second time around.

Question 41:

This player in the late '80s, '90s, and early '00s posted a career year one year with a .340 BA (#3 in the league), league-leading 40 HRs, league-leading 128 RBI, and a league-leading .620 slugging %.  He won the Silver Slugger award and came in second in the MVP voting.

His WAR over his entire 14-year career is under 6.0, which wouldn't have even ranked in the top ten in the MLB during the single season he posted these career numbers.

He's (rightly) not in the Hall.

Mo Vaughn? He won MVP though. Near the criteria though

That was a good guess.  He won the MVP in 1995 (over Belle, which I'm still salty about).  Never quite posted a .340 batting average, though.

Career WARs of about 19, 49, and 38.  Respectively.

Bichette?

There it is.  Lifetime WAR of 5.7 over 14 years, despite his career year in 1995 (which unbelievably only resulted in a 1.2 WAR).

For reference, Billy Ripken's career WAR is 5.9 over 12 years.
