Question #138

This HOF pitcher had a season that landed him top 5 MVP voting BUT did NOT finish top 5 Cy Young voting! (Yes you read that correctly)....post 1975

And....there were no pitchers above him in the MVP voting

1989

Eck was 5th in MVP voting, behind no pitchers......then finished tied for 6th with 2 others in Cy voting. One player he tied with wasn’t top 25 MVP voting.......and SAME year Mark Davis won the NL Cy and was 6th place MVP voting and top pitcher.

No rhyme or reason

Seemed like it had to be a closer. I can see how voters view them as incredibly valuable, but throwing 1/3 the innings of the top guys, they don’t view them as top pitchers for the season.

But then give a closer Mark Davis the Cy....makes no sense unless the MVP voters went way too far in on Eck

Yeah, that makes no sense. It’s almost like some of them didn’t know he was eligible for both lol.

Question #139:

This HOFer is tied for the most one-hitters ever thrown with 12.  In those 12 games, he still managed to lose a game.

Yep.  Lost a one-hitter in '52 against the Braves.  Walked a batter and gave up a triple as the only hit.  Lost 1-0.
