Thome finished tied for second for the longest consecutive HR streak at 7 games.  Three guys (Griffey, Mattingly, and Dale Long) have 8 games.

However, for those guys, they all had at least one game in there where the HR was their only RBI of the game.

That was the one I was thinking of. I distinctly remember being at my cottage watching him extend the streak to 6 games.

I think I remember him playing for the Red Sox.

This is a real thought provoking question for me.

Oh.....I was at a game where he was with the Angels.  I really liked his demeanor.

That’s incredible to me that he was with the A’s 4 different times.

One other thing about him.......he was one of the few major league players who threw left but batted right...............like me.

Rickey:

A’s then Yankees then A’s then Blue Jays then A’s then Padres then Angels then A’s then Mets then Mariners then Padres then Red Sox then Dodgers

1979-2004 stole 25 bases at age 42 and stole 110 bases from age 40 on

His legs were like were Nolan Ryan’s arm

Good Rickey story here: he played 3 different times with John Olerud. Olerud always wore a batting helmet while he played 1st base. Every time they played together Rickey would come up to him and say I played with a guy that wore a batting helmet not realizing it was Olerud every time.

I don’t condone hot dogging and such but I loved Rickey....it was different with him.

When he won MVP in Oakland and Oakland hesitated in paying him big....he told them “you wanna pay Rickey like Mike Gallego, Rickey gonna play like Mike Gallego”

Gallego was his teammate lol

Question #125

This HOFer never scored 95+ runs in a season, never hit .295+ in a qualifying season, only 1 30+ HR, career high RBI was 106, only 3x 30+ doubles BUT was a 4x top 6 MVP

Name him

cat_lover gets it ahead of my answers.

Of course, I had to be typing a little story to let him get in by a minute.

Ah well, that’s what happens on a competitive trivia thread.  😁

Yogi probably hit those numbers a few times, but not a masher. So I’ll guess him?
