Just switched over to the iPhone after 5 years in the Android ecosystem. Any particularly good apps you find yourself using on a regular basis?

You may have had the Waze app on droid but if not i definitely recommend it. Automatically reroutes you for traffic accidents and alerts for police ahead.

Also for golf if you get an apple watch you can download the 18 birdies app on your phone and get automatic gps on your wrist for all of your golf shots. It is extremely accurate.

Definitely a Waze user through Carplay (and previously on Android Auto).

I do plan on getting an Apple Watch and using it as a golf gps. Glad to hear 18 Birdies is accurate, it was the app I was leaning towards after a bit of cursory research. Do you pay for the pro version? And btw, I did break 100 at Virtues.

haha i was wondering..that is a tough course.  I dont pay for the pro version and i dont really use it to keep track of my rounds.  We play really fast and i dont really have time or need to do that.  I delete each round after im done.  but the gps is accurate to the front, middle and back of the green.  I have buddies who have 500$ binoculars and ill have my number on my watch and they will shoot it and its often the same number or off 1 yard because the flag isnt exactly in the middle front or back.

Did you get the 11 Pro? I had it delivered on the release date. First time I’ve ever had the “latest” phone out.

I’m impressed with the battery life. Destroys my previous X.

Work bought it so I was only able to get the 11. The battery life is definitely impressive.

I'll be getting at least the 11.  Not sure if 11 Pro or not.

The regular 11 is a bigger screen than the Pro, which I found odd.

I’m not really a phone camera guru, but the Pro’s is pretty badass. If I would have known it was the smallest screen out of the 3 beforehand I would have probably gone 11.

The 11 is nice, not sure I would spring for the Pro or Pro Max if I were paying for my own. The camera and screen resolution are the main differences, but I’m not sure they’d be worth the extra money.

I was thinking of buying a watch tonight, but it’s gonna take a few weeks for any of the bands I want to ship.

Don’t waste your money on an expensive band. The ones on eBay or amazon are just as good and cost < $10.

I just want the standard sports loop. The one I really want ships in 9-10 weeks. My second choice ships in 2 weeks.

I got the 44mm last week, sport band. Didn’t really like any of the other ones and the prices were stupid.

I’m seeing a lot of cool 3rd party ones, mostly on Instagram. I want something a little less sporty for work. I don’t really like metal, maybe go nylon.

Follow @fatkideals on twitter they constantly post deals on Apple watches and bands on amazon. I have 20 bands and I Probly paid 50$ total

I wear a silicone one for work, because I get sweaty and dirty. I have a few of the Nike style ones that I rotate. And I have some of the sport loop Velcro ones and a few leather ones too that I wear for everyday use. I have a series 3 Nike version watch. And all the extra bands I have bought have been from eBay. I just refuse to pay the prices they want for them at stores.

IMO, theScore is the best app for sports.

You guys with watches, do you have the aluminum or stainless steel versions? Or another material? Not sure what past watches were offered in.

I had the aluminum at first, then splurged and exchanged for the stainless 5 days later.

I didn’t do proper research before buying the aluminum, didn’t know the stainless version is made with stronger glass also.

I’m not a watch guy at all and this is my first smart watch, so I wanted something that could take more of a beating. It’s noticeably heavier than the aluminum though, but I got used to it quick.

Curious if you are always playing the same course? I have found 18 birdies to be accurate at some courses but way off at other courses, especially if tee boxes have been moved, holes changed, etc. You can get a good range finder these days for $130 - $150.

I currently use a Garmin Approach S20 and a Precision Pro rangefinder (with slope). I'm going to test out 18Birdies on my home course tonight, comparing it with my Garmin watch.

Are you glad you spent the extra money? I'm just not sure I can justify the extra $300.
