So from time to time I participate in consumer research groups on various topics/products.  Usually get about 75-150 for 1-2 hours.  Previous sessions have included, Smokeless Tobacco, Car Insurance, Car Technology, and Video Games.  I got a survey to fill out about the lawsuit about to come down on the hospital.  The questions centered around how much do you think each family should get a) If you believe the hospital knew b) if the hospital had no idea.

My answers were 500,000 per family if the hospital knew and 250,000 per family if they didn't. I believe there was just shy of 40 families.

So what do you think is a fair payout on this lawsuit?

How did you arrive at those figures?

Why wouldn't your figure be higher if the hospital knew?  To me, that sounds heinous.  I might say a million in that case..

Also, did you take into account that most of the patients were elderly and possibly not in the best of health to begin with?

Just curious.  I have no idea what I would have put down.  That doctor sounds like a piece of work, but I guess recent events have taught me I should wait until the final investigation and probable trial are complete before I go making my pronouncement from on high.  Will be very interesting, that's for sure.

It's sure been at the forefront in Columbus news, but that might not count for NEO and SWO.  Maybe if there was a tie-in with Urban Meyer ....

All of the patients were put on dnr by the family none of them were in good health. The doctor decided to end it himself. The debate now is ongoing as to whether they were as sick as the doctor portrayed them to be. Idk how I came up with the figure. I was basing it on partially how much people get when a family member dies in a plane crash.. if I remember it was only like 50k. The lady who got sucked out the windows family I don’t think was getting more than 250k. And there are like 40 families so I just don’t think they will get 1 mill each. Idk I’m also fine with  a million each. I guess that’s why I was asking to see what others opinions are. If it’s a rougue doctor I’m not sure I can blame the hospital too much. If it’s a lack of oversight or blatant scheme to save money then it’s a diff story. Not a lot of facts right now

It wasn't a rogue doctor. There were six pharmacists and 14 nurses suspended as well. 20+ staff members were complacent with administering lethal doses and I'm betting they all knew what they were doing was wrong.

My first wife ran a nursing home. I’m not sure if hospital operate the same way, but nursing homes always want to be full as possible. I don’t think killing off patients would be a money-saving act, unless they weren’t able to pay.
