Anyone else have one of these things?  It is a pretty cool idea if it works as advertised.  Basically, for $10 a month you can watch one, non imax or 3d movie everyday at a paricipating theater.  I just got my card in the mail and it works through an app.

There are a couple of catches to it....you can not really book the movie ahead of time since you have to be within 100 yards of the theater to check in.  And as mentioned, no imax or 3d.  I know that Regal and Cinemark theaters are on board so it should be pretty decent for me.

It works like advertised.  A coworker of mine goes to 3 movies a week with his.

I have it but haven't used it yet. I might go see Downsizing tonight since I can walk to that theater.

Sounds interesting, and I checked out the link below, which is confusing at one point:  It says tickets must be "bought on-site".  But if I understand correctly, once you pay your $10 and get your debit card, you "select" the movie and showtime in the app, then your debit card is loaded with the cost of the movie, then you use your debit card to actually buy the ticket at the box office.  Is that how it works?

Sounds like a great deal. Wish it was around (or if it was, we had known about it) before our daughter came along and our social life went down the drain.

Yeah you have to do the app process at the theater.

I got this about a month ago thanks to this thread.

All I can say is...thank you! Love going to theater and my wife does as well, but not as often. My schedule is such that during the weekday afternoons, I have lots of free time. Been to about 8 movies so far (also dead time for work, I’d assume I’ll head to about 4 a month moving forward). For $9.95. What a deal.

We've only used it once so far, but there hasn't been a lot of movies worth the effort so far. We're considering a movie tonight, I'm hoping she'll go for 3 Billboards.

I've gone to two movies with mine so far, but I have no doubt that it will pay for itself throughout the year.

I have gone to 4 movies so far with it.  I think that it will really be useful once the summer blockbusters hit.

We've gone to two movies now in less than 2 months. I don't know that we saw two movies the previous two years.

I'm on my own tonight, I may go see Darkest Hour.

Have you seen Dunkirk?

I haven't.

Darkest Hour is a solid backstory/prequel to it, though unintentional. Give Dunkirk a watch after you see Darkest Hour.

My friend Steven (the reds fan) used MoviePass weekly.  Dude goes probably 5 times a month, it's a hell of a value if you like the theater thing.

Good dude, it's been years since I've chatted with him.

I think I'll start using it more as the year goes on. Not a ton of movies I'm interested in right now, but a lot coming up that I want to see.

  • Black Panther
  • Isle of Dogs
  • The Public
  • The Death of Stalin
  • Super Troopers 2
  • Avengers: Infinity War

With moviepass on life support, I decided to dig up this thread to see if people got their money's worth out of it.

I got 23 movies out of it so I'm not disappointed.  And even though it will probably be gone shortly, I think it served it's purpose.  It's led to amc, cinemark and others offering programs.  Granted, they aren't nearly as good.... But something is better than nothing.

I got 13 since January, which is more than my money's worth. Might try to get a couple more this weekend/early next week before it's gone foreva.

Definitely still happy I bought it.

I wonder how long it will last with the price increase and cutting out the new release blockbusters. Anyway, mine was definitely worth it. Got 26 movies in since I signed up in November.

Good bump. We've only seen 6 or so movies since December, but it's at least forced us to get out and go see movies. We didn't really go to the movies that often in the past. We got our annual membership through Costco for $90, and I just saw that they are offering refunds for the service.
