I really didn't think he was going to read all 10 movies, but he could have at least taken a breath before ripping open the envelope.

Well sq....the people that know what they're talking about disagree with you

I knew this would happen with all the Avatar lovers out there if if didn't win

Plain and simple......Avatar didn't deserve to win

Cameron is one of those guys who puts a lot into the awards though. He already has plenty of money. He wanted that pretty bad. He knew it was going to win until it didn't.

I haven't seen Hurt Locker so I'm not going to judge, Avatar could have been written on the back of a bubble gum wrapper, Aliens was a better written film and for the time of its production wasn't that much less impressive than Avatar.

Look how much money Avatar made. Clearly the people who know are SUPPOSED to know what they're talking about don't actually know what they're talking about.

It doesn't fucking matter how much money a movie makes...it matters about the quality of the movie....

Money is great for the wallet but it really doesn't mean anything when it comes to how good a movie is. I don't doubt that it was visually stunning but I've heard bad, bad things about the actual story. The biggest being that it was essentially Pocahontas.

Did you really think that Avatar was going to win? It didn't win the first time around when it was called Pocahontas. Why would it win now?

Both winners for these awards were introduced first...pay attention to that for Best Picture

Well, they make movies to entertain people--the more money they make, clearly they entertained more people. That's more opinions than some fucking douche bag movie critics.

Exactly, because gross determines how good a movie is. No Country for Old Men was alright and everything, but Spiderman 3 got robbed that year...

Avatar was nominated and close to winning, so I don't agree with that argument. If wasn't a good academy movie then it would've never been down to the last two.

Yep, because Titanic has really stood the test of time. I can't tell you how many times me and my friends have planned to go out but then we see Titanic is playing on TNT and we just say "fuck it, we're staying in."

All I can say is go watch both movies and decide.

The Hurt Locker is solid but a little overrated.

"Movies that make as much money as Avatar aren't flukes. "

Neither are the Jonas Brothers (being flukes, that is), but it is a matter of finding the right audience for the time vis a vis a matter of creating something that will last. Avatar may be well known as a pioneer in 3-D technology, but the story will be forgotten, or worse regurgitated in the next few years.

Point being?

There are millions of people in this world, our own personal opinions don't mean all that much on the big scale.

I'm not a big fan of the Beatles, but I don't have a problem with them being awarded for what they accomplished.

Of the 10 nominated I only watched Up, Inglorious Basterds and District 9. I'll try and make time to watch Hurt Locker this week.
