Is anyone that actually watched the performance shocked that Mo'Nique won?

I mean, her resume is terrible, but that was a VERY worthy performance.

^^no kidding. I can't stand Mo'Nique on her late night show, or in general (lol), but that was a very powerful performance.

With a name like Mauro Fiore I did not expect him to sound so American.

Mediocre show so far - I guess the lack of drama in the announced winners is partially to blame. The memory segment wasn't great with the technical difficulties at the beginning and a ho hum James Taylor song. I'm surprised Brittany Murphy got so little response, given her work in Girl Interrupted and Sin City.

Not a fan of Mo'Nique either, but.....she deserved it. Every now and then, a blind squirrel does.....something.

I was more surprised by how little reaction Michael Jackson got.

I didn't see Farrah Fawcett in the memorial segment.

Did I miss it? Or did Farrah get the shaft?

"I was more surprised by how little reaction Michael Jackson got."

I was surprised as well, I chalk it up to how poorly the segment was, with Demi Moore being the introduction Swayze was understandably going to be either the first or last entry, but other than that it seemed random. Compared to previous years it might not have a been a big memorium (Paul Newman, Heath Ledger) but it could have been better.

Wildcats20, Murphy played Daisy, the (likely) sexually abused girl that hung herself in the film. With the make-up and wardrobe she looked nothing like herself in real life.

Did they really need to nominate anyone besides Avatar for Visual Effects? That movie basically reinvented visual effects. The things they did in that film will be the norm in movie making for the next 20 years.

You're right, she just isn't listed anywhere on the movie jacket. I saw it a few years ago, forgot she was in it.

If it was there I didn't catch it, which again is lame if it indeed wasn't part of the memorium. I know she was 95% a tv show actress/model, but she did do an Altman film (Dr. T) and was in The Apostle. IMO that should have been recognized.

I don't think I have ever agreed with anything you have said on this site...You don't think the girl from Precious should win?

I also thought the tribute segment was poorly done.

They could've shown longer and more individualized clips from their movies.

She was also in The Cannonball Run. I think she was in Man of the House as well. But I haven't seen that movie since I was a kid and I don't remember off hand. She definitely should have been recognized.

I agree. The skit where they parodied Paranormal Activity was hilarious!
