Big Ben played fairly well last year, but they won inspite of his play in super bowl 40.

Super Bowl 40 yes... last year, he bailed the defense out after their 4th quarter collapse.elbuckeye28 wrote:What you really mean is you'll take the Steelers defense any day.grass_licker wrote: regular season ill take manning, post season ill take big ben any day

I would say Holmes bailed him out with that catch.Walt wrote:Super Bowl 40 yes... last year, he bailed the defense out after their 4th quarter collapse.elbuckeye28 wrote:What you really mean is you'll take the Steelers defense any day.grass_licker wrote: regular season ill take manning, post season ill take big ben any day

You have to be a Ben hater to say that he wasn't great on the final drive last year. Yes, Holmes made a great grab, but Ben hit him on the hands twice in the endzone in the final minute, and Holmes only caught one of them.Pick6 wrote:I would say Holmes bailed him out with that catch.Walt wrote:Super Bowl 40 yes... last year, he bailed the defense out after their 4th quarter collapse.elbuckeye28 wrote:What you really mean is you'll take the Steelers defense any day.grass_licker wrote: regular season ill take manning, post season ill take big ben any day

I never said that drive. I said the winning touchdown catch was unbelievable.

No way Holmes bailed him out. That ball was thrown in the only spot it could be thrown.....it was a great play all the way around.

Ben's pass was as good as Holmes' catch
Drew Brees is too damn small to ever be a top notch QB

What better way to define a QB than how he handles the pressure late in a Super Bowl.
Seriously. What is bigger? That's what you're picking these franchise QBs for.
Ben had his chance last year and took the team down the field for a winning TD.
Manning this year threw a pick six with it all on the line.
None of the season stats matter as much as those two different finishes in Super Bowls.

In one of big bens SB wins...the best pass in the game was thrown by a WR and the best play he made all post season was a tackle in the Indy game haha

Peyton has as many rings as his little brother. That's all you need to know about Peyton.

^^exactly everybody forgets about when the played the Seahawks.
Look I dont like the Steelers but I give credit where it is due.
It annoys me that Steelers fans think Ben is a top 5 QB in the league when he makes stupid decisions game after game. He is an average quarterback that happens to be on a team with an above average defense and an above average coaching staff.

Bingo!
The fact that everyoen is so caught up in fantasy stats doesn't help either, although, Ben was a pretty damn good fantasy QB this year too.

Ben is just underrated by many outside of Pittsburgh fans. He came into the league with a high talent level and has improved greatly in his weakest area as a pocket passer. His athleticism and ability to extend plays is his primary strength as a QB and that's been key his entire career. He does it differently than some QBs but their aren't many QBs ever who had the skill set that he has. Being a big QB with athleticism, good arm, now a strong pocket passer, along with the intangibles. Elway comes to mind and he was better but Ben is along the same lines from a talent standpoint. He just happened to go to a team that is usually strong defensively.

Amazing how the haters seem to forget how the Steelers got to Super Bowl XL riding Big Ben's arm.Hb31187 wrote: In one of big bens SB wins...the best pass in the game was thrown by a WR and the best play he made all post season was a tackle in the Indy game haha

That's one of the funniest posts on this thread! If average equates in to two Super Bowl wins in four years, then being average is just fine with me.

He played great at Indy and at Denver leading up to the Super Bowl and made a few key plays in the Super Bowl that didn't show up in the rating. One play he rolled around and threw up a heave that was caught at the one. He also had a TD run and late in the game ran for a first down that helped preserve the win. Manning didn't even deserve the MVP in his first Super Bowl. He played average that entire playoff run.

I like the analysis, but you lost me when you put him in the same sentence as Elway(who I hate). Elway may be the best ever.Non wrote: Ben is just underrated by many outside of Pittsburgh fans.
