Exactly because we recruit studs with NBA potential. Oden, Conley, Cook, Koufus, Mullens and now add Turner.

Matta recruits some of the best players in the country only to see them go pro, you can't force them to stay.

The players leaving for the NBA are not exactly the total reason for this lack of depth. Many expected Oden and Cook to leave. Nobody expected Conley. That is the one, that still comes back to haunt OSU/Matta. Koufos was a surprise and I would say, Mullens a bit as well. Both of those DOLTS, should have stayed and would have been better and more ready for the NBA and not sitting on a bench rotting currently.
Then you add in Crater defection, and recently, the boneheaded move of Offut to leave. No coach EVER plans for this to happen and , cannot "PLAN" recruting around it.
Also add in that Matta is was dealing with NCAA restrictions because of O'Brien as far as the number of scholarships as well.
You can't have it both ways. Many were pissed because O'Brien didn't recruit studs. Now, some are pissed that Matta is recruiting, and getting studs.
As for depth...next year, that won't be an issue. OSU will ONLY lose one player that gets significant time, and thats Turner. Everyone else returns, along with the 5/6 highly regarded recruits that are coming in.
Now Matta will have the luxury of a deep/ versitile bench.

No, you get Diebler the fuck out of there, put Simmons or PJ Hill at the top, and move Turner to the wing. Or you switch into a different zone, say a 3-2. Or go straight up man a couple possessions. You can't allow a team to get into a rhythm and then just let them keep maintaining that rhythm. You've got to do something to get them out of it.

However, if just looking at the top 5, OSU could be considered better at every position as a whole. You have Turner, Lighty and Buford who all have the potential to be great defenders because of their length, even though Buford gets lazy at times (that's on coaching). You have Lauderdale who was the biggest guy on the court and is a very good defender, and then you have one position that you might worry about in Diebler. But you have Simmons or Hill in the game, and you have 5 very capable man to man defenders. Then you might be able to cut into the rebounding gap.

OSU was 16-29 in the first half and 8-20 in the second. Yes, they shot well in the first half, but they weren't exactly ice cold in the second and when you shoot 49% from the field, you have to feel good about your offensive performance.

I expected WVU to make a run, because I think they are a very good team.

But coaching has to factor into this loss, and if you refuse to admit that, then you are blind. You shoot 49% from the field and get outscored by 18 in the second half. I know players make plays, but you really got what you expected from each player.

Players play the game. WVU outplayed OSU in the second half, and absolutely dominated the boards. That was the difference. And that wasn't a coaching adjustment. It was a player's adjustment as far as the effort WVU put forth in the second half.

If you can't realize Matta got outcoached then you're fucking blind. Matta stuck with the same game plan in the second half as he did the first. I wasn't in the locker-room and neither were you, but I can guarantee Huggins is to good of a coach not to make adjustments against that zone. Sure his players stepped up some, but i'm sure that had something to do with the fact that he put them in the proper position to be able to step up. When a coach makes an adjustment against what you're doing, and it's working, you make a counter-adjustment, to stop that. Matta didn't. End of story.

PAY ATTENTION.....Turner is Ohio State's best rebounder. Turner played the point in Ohio State's 1-3-1 zone. Turner crashed the boards when a shot was taken. Since the point in the 1-3-1 was crashing the boards a wing(DIEBLER) MUST be assigned the responsibility of getting back on D and NOT going for rebounds.
