Some really good discussion here, other than CBF who is too blind once again to ever question an OSU coach. No one should expect any different though.
I only saw the last few minutes of the first half. But OSU looked really good the first half. But I knew that OSU would stick with the zone too long and Huggins would made some in game adjustments (apparently CBF doesn't believe that happens) and would get some easy buckets. On several of the first possessions of the second half, WVU ran some really effective plays against the zone to get wide-open looks.
Matta stuck with it too long.
And to say he doesn't have a bench or any other options is just becoming an excuse. You sleep in the bed you make. I understand who the best 5 guys are, but you have to be willing to give a guy like PJ Hill a shot.
And for the Diebler hate, I've been saying it all year. It's too often that he plays 35+ minutes and has 0's across his box score other than shot attempts and points. How in the hell someone plays 35 minutes and fails to defend, get one rebound or have one assist is just beyond me. The kid is such a pussy it makes me sick.
Ahhh, Mr. Coach finally shows up. Here is alittle lesson for you:
FYI, Matta was mixing the zone and MM. He as goinq zone on made bucks, and going MM on misses. Well, in the second half, we had many more misses then makes. Thus OSU played more MM then they did in the fist half, where they shot lights out. Thus, they played more zone, and were more effective in the first half holding WVU to 28pts, and were actually EVEN on rebounding.
In the second half, OSU shot poorly, making ONE FG the final 8 minutes and were outrebounded by 9 rebounds in the second half. That my friend, was the ball game. Even Huggins said after the game..he challenged WVU to step up and get after it. WVU didn't do anything any different then they did in the first half x and o wise. They just attacked the basket, and rebounded. OSU didn't.
Its really a simple game. Make shots, you look good, can get set on defense, miss shots, don't rebound...your in deep trouble.
