Thad Matta got out-coached the second half, and you can take that to the bank. How many three's does WVU have to hit before you realize the zone isn't working like it was in the first half? A coach should never just ride it out and hope that they'll start missing their shots again. Mix it up, go man a couple possessions then go back to a zone, and then a different zone if need be. Get them out of their rhythm.
Also, i've never been a "Diebler hater" so to speak, but that guy, IMO, just isn't very good. He's a hell of a shooter, i'll give him that, but oher than that, what does he bring? Average ball handler at best, can't create his own shot, average passer at best, and good lord this kid can't play D for the life of him. It's evident he just doesn't take pride in his defense. Countless times I just watched him stand there on the back side as WVU players were crashing boards. I'm not sure if I saw him box out somebody on the backside this entire game. If you're gonna go zone, get somebody on the wings that can crash. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing PJ Hill or Simmons out at the top and move Turner to one of the wings, and get Diebler the hell out of there. What he brings on the offensive end, which isn't much, doesn't make up for what he lacks on the defensive end.
One last note, was it just me, or did anyone else think WVU was chanting "Fuck you Turner"?
LOL...here we go with the Matta got outcoached crap. LOL Clueles.
Players play the game. WVU outplayed OSU in the second half, and absolutely dominated the boards. That was the difference. And that wasn't a coaching adjustment. It was a player's adjustment as far as the effort WVU put forth in the second half.
