What happened to singing Rocky Top all night long after beating Urban Meyer and Florida?

Couldnt handle losing to Florida and the rest of the SEC so he bails on his team for another job.

What a scumbag

I guess I am in the minority in that I don't see anything wrong with this move. Kiffin more than likely got:
1) a better offer
2) more money
3) coaching at an elite college football school
4) in his home state
5) in a recruiting hotbed
6) Within a conference he is familiar with
7) Not to mention the southern california weather.

Peole leave for better employment opportunities all the time. Its not like kiffin was denying rumors or lying to anyone (that I am aware of).

Lil Wayne gave him a shout out in a rap song, so you know he has major street cred. That doesn't necessarily transfer to wins, but he is a young guy that guys are going to want to come play, and recruiting SC is hardly like trying to get people to come to North Dakota.
Really? And your basing this on his career 7-6 record along with being fired and called a liar at his one year NFL gig? Impressive resume'. He's a punk.

This is how I feel. If he had done this after even 3 years there nobody would complain. The guys "dream job" came open earlier than expected. If he ever wanted it he had to go now.

karen lotz wrote: That's an awesome pic. With all the crap that Kiffin started with Urban Meyer and Florida when he was hired and since then, I really thought he would stick around for a while. I don't agree that Tennessee is a steppingstone, its one of the top programs in the country and Kiffin seemed like he would be the kind of guy to get them all the way back to the top. Tennessee fans have every right to be pissed.
This coming from an ND fan is hilarious...

TN a top program? Yeah, 15 years ago.

good article of lane kiffin behind the scenes at u of tennessee...

http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2010/01/12/volunteer-sources-say-kiffin-never-embraced-tennessee/

"But everything wasn't bad at Tennessee.

For instance, there was Lane's dad, Monte, the team's defensive coordinator.

"Monte was loved by everyone," says McNeil. "He was a great guy, a great football coach, but a better guy."

McNeil pauses for a moment, thinks.

"He and Lane had absolutely nothing in common."

Yes douchebag they are a top program. Every program goes through lulls, even your beloved buckeyes. Alabama, Michigan, USC, Nebraska, Notre Dame are all elite programs that have been down over the past decade. They will be back on top. Everything goes in cycles. Do you not realize there is life outside of Columbus?

When does ND cycle begin to go back up? It's been 20 years since I remember them doing anything. Oh wait, they did beat a depleted 6-6 WAC team a couple years ago, a definite characteristic of a top program.

USC's been down over the past decade? LOL

2005, they were one bush-push away from competing for a national title.

That is a big problem on this site

True, not the last decade for USC. Do you have any clue what their program was like prior to Pete showing up? Perfect example of programs going in cycles.

Ohio State doesn't get BLOWN out in BCS games, those games were statistical anomalies. ND is 0-2 in BCS bowl games, losing by over 2 TD's in each game, a true laughing stock.

Please don't compare the two.

Kiffin isn't even qualified for this position at USC.

He hasn't done shit as a HC except getting let go from the Raiders and having an ok year at UT before getting stomped by VaTech.

He isn't a good coach and hasn't proven anything. Hopefully his staff can carry his ass.

Judging by who he is taking with him and the possibility of Chow coming over, I'd say there is a good chance of his staff carrying him.
