It's amazing what emotion can do sometimes, and as we Tribe fans know, the Indians feed off emotion more than most...gotta' have faith.

Exactly. You are missing 1/2 of your playoff rotation and you STILL make it to the World Series. Sit back and enjoy the ride because it has been a very good one.

Go Tribe.

Also to note, Tomlin when he came back in September has started using his curveball more on the advice from callaway, and it's paid off big time for him. He's hasn't given up the home runs as he has earlier in the year and he's been getting more swing and misses and hitters off balance. This isn't the same Tomlin from earlier this year.

That's kinda crazy. He can't 1/2 ass play LF? Getting mediocre jumps and no quick stopping?

I don't understand how he's healthy enough to run bases and swing like Prince Fielder but can't play OF

Theo said the dynamic movements of OF are too risky.

I still don't get how he can run bases. Takes off on contact and then liner gets caught....shredded ligaments again

Tito still considering playing Santana in LF. I'm really not a fan of this idea. HIS .143 avg doesn't warrant that risk. Coco or Guyer can strike out just as well as he can, but play defense

Santana can mash one though, and that is the ONLY way we have scored the entire playoffs. I can see why Tito wants to risk it, Tribe haven't strung together hits to drive in runs yet, and now get a likely CYA winner for game 3.

I would think that having Santana available as a pinch-hitter coming off the bench in key situations to bat for the pitcher and then doing a double switch might be more advantageous than risking poor defense an entire game, which has a way of giving teams 4 or more outs and turning a close game into a blowout. Indeed, Santana may be taking practice in left field not so much to start, but in case Tito needs to make that maneuver.

I would see their (doctor's) point 100% if he was playing anywhere in the infield, catcher, even centerfield. But LF, I can still see their point but only maybe 50%.

Playing in the field most definitely has more twisting motion possibilities on the knee than batting/running bases. Batting you are just driving off that knee and rounding a base is the closest to a twist as you can get. Rounding bases a actually more of a rounded straight line. You can actually run in a straight line on a torn ACL, you just can not cut.

I think in the outfield they are a little worried about a collision but more worried about that first step or a redirection step (miss judged the ball, the ball is off the wall, etc) because those are like cutting in basketball/football and definitely affect an injured ACL.

Another thing to consider is that he is actually a terrible defensive outfielder and that might have played a role in the decision.

He's a scary bat in the middle of the order. I would venture to say collisions happen more between base runner and fielders than outfielders and outfielders/infielders.

Scoreless game in the 6th....Schwarber leading off first and Baez scorches one to Napoli at first. Napoli dives and makes a great catch while Schwarber reacts immediately to stop and get back to base but collapses to the ground after shredding his ligaments.

I definitely trust the doctor...I just didn't hear good enough explanation from Theo on his presser.

If his poor defense compared to Zobrist is some of the reason then Manny Ramirez shouldn't have played nearly 2,000 games in the OF

I am hopeful in the next three games that Santana gets twice as many ABs than the greatest player ever*.

Go Tribe! I am terrified, but I will be drinking heavily at a Halloween party with an open bar, so that should help my nerves.

Go Tribe. Not a must win tonight but would be strongly preferred. If we lose tonight...I think Kluber is pitching for the series tomorrow. We are going to be at a huge disadvantage on Sunday with Lester vs whoever we roll with. Doesn't mean we can't win Sunday but that's not a game we want to be down 3-1 going into.

I feel better about Tomlin tonight than I did about Bauer on Wednesday.

Yup. There's a part of me that thinks "if we can steal this one tonight..start Merritt/bullpen against Lackey because I think we knock him around pretty well...then seal it Sunday with Kluber". But, there's a reason Tito is the best manager in the game and not me sooooo....

Interesting read that Tomlin is a fly ball pitcher and gives up a lot of HR's. The wind is going to be blowing 30-40 mph to center field tonight...

With that said, Hendricks is a contact pitcher as well. When he makes mistakes, they get punished.

I think we could see quite a few long balls tonight. Cleveland needs to strike first and get the crowd out of it....it's going to be rocking.

Everything on paper says the Cubs should win this game. As a Cubs fan, I didn't feel good about game 1, I felt good about game 2. My feeling tonight is indecisive.

I did decide that if the Cubs win tonight and tomorrow that I'm heading up to the mad house in Wrigleyville.

Cubs are big favorites tonight. -200. They opened the total at 7 runs...it's been bet up to 8...probably based on the wind forecast. It could be home run derby out there tonight. Tomlin is certainly prone to the gopher ball. This could be the first MLB playoff game since the division series to have a lead change.

Yes Tomlin is a fly ball pitcher but since he's been using his curveball more starting in September he's only given up 1 HR. He's really helped keep hitters off balance and I have a feel if the cubs try to be patient like they usually are they will be behind in the count a lot. Tomlin is a guy who pounds the strike zone and works the corners very well. It should be interesting to see how the cubs approach him.
