At the stadium last night, the place was filled with Cubs fans...maybe as much as 30%. I sat in my season seats and was surrounded by them.
The dude next to me said he and his buddy's paid $5600 for their 4 bleacher seats.....it was a deal in their opinion 'cause the tickets for games at Wrigley are going for $6K.

I think 30% is very high. If you were in like 182...I could see why you would have felt it was more. There were a bunch of Cubs fans in that section. I was in 183 noted many Cubs fans in 182.

It was probably closer to 10% but when the 10% of the fans are the only ones making any noise...it can feel like more.

Got home at 2:30 this morning. Tribe got killed. Almost got no-hit. It was cold and I would go back and do it all again to take in a World Series game. Worth the price...even considering the outcome.

I thought Bauer did a fantastic job of keeping the Tribe fans out of the game. You can only get ramped up for so many 2 strikes pitches. He couldn't put anybody away...hell...nobody could last night. Credit the Cubs, they spoiled so many 2 strike pitches. Some really tremendous at bats.

Considering Bauer didn't have anything near his best stuff...he didn't kill us giving up 2 runs. Bullpen needed to keep us in it and they couldn't. That's a lot different game in the 7th, 8th and 9th if it's 2-1 or 3-1 and not 5-1.

What about the bats? That was more egregious to me than the pitching which we knew would take somewhat of a drop off with Bauer compared to Kluber. 6 runs in Game 1 to 1 in Game 2?

pretty spot on with that analysis.... I'll add that we came up short defensively, and that cost us at least 2 runs.

The thing about Tomlin that will benefit him will be the cubs are very patient hitters. So he should be able to get ahead of the count a lot

Call me crazy, but I'm not afraid to face Kluber the second time around. Do I think they rock him? No. Do I think he'll pitch remotely as well as he did in Game 1? Also, no. The Cubs are pretty decent when facing a guy for the second time, no matter how good his stuff is.

There is plenty of pressure on both teams in Game 3.

From 2014-16, there were 156 MLB pitchers with 250+ innings pitched. Josh Tomlin ranked 132nd in FIP, 46th in xFIP, 118th in OPS allowed. That's like a nice 5th pitcher, game 3 of the WS against the Cubs? YIKES.

Again, I really think our best chance at a W outside of Klubot was to roll the dice with Salazar and hope we get April-June sub 3, 1 million K Salazar, and not the post All Star version. With a month off I think it's more likely an all star caliber pitcher can pitch well then Josh fucking Tomlin. Klubot on short rest, not a fan of that either. Call me a reverse jinx-er or whatever you want but legit don't think the Tribe have the horses to get this done. Also game 3 is going to be fucking nuts in Chicago, I don't think the tribe win in that atmosphere with Nolan Ryan on the mound.

I agree with you. That was an all-time performance Game 1. Impossible to top...and extremely difficult to even match.

Everything I am hearing and reading goes like this, "The Indians just need to find a way to win 1 of the 3 remaining non-Kluber starts and they'll be good." Well...what if Kluber is slightly off one game? He was slightly off game 4 on 3 days rest vs Toronto.

Also, Tomlin has been pretty damn good. This one won't go like last night. If the Cubs don't want to swing early in the count...they better be prepared to hit behind in the count and with 2 strikes. Tomlin's not going to let them walk him to death. They might swat a couple balls onto Sheffield Ave but he's not going to walk guys.

Tomlin's last 6 starts...earned runs allowed. 1,1,1,2,2,1. Hendricks has been solid over that stretch too. Should be a good game.

I don't understand the hate for Tomlin...the guy has had a solid year with the exception of one month in August. I'll take the mental strength of Tomlin in a big game over a guy with better stuff but loses execution when the pressure is on.

The hate is over his career he's an avg pitcher at best and it sucks we have to start him in a pivotal game in the World Series.

I'd like to see Ryan Merritt pitch game 5. I think he's a solid pitcher who the Cubs have never seen.

The fact is...we don't have a choice. Nobody wanted Bauer to start last night. We all wanted Cookie to start that game. Nobody wants want Josh Tomlin to start this game. We all want a healthy Danny Salazar to pitch. Unfortunately, that's not the case. We have a shell of Danny and no Cookie.

So Tomlin is our guy tomorrow. He might just have the right combination of junk balls and location to keep them off balance for 5 innings. I sure hope so.
