This is the problem with punishing Brady. There is no proof that he did anything wrong or requested the balls to be deflated. At best they can say Tom Brady complained about the balls being too highly inflated but that doesn't mean he requested them to be altered. I think it's a game maybe, but definitely a fine.

If that's the mantra, why make teams have 7 guys on the line? Why not let them lineup in any formation they want if it gives them an advantage? Why not let substitutes run on and off the field as late as they want as long as 11 guys are on the field when the ball is snapped, it is the defense's fault if they don't know who to guard and who is running off.

For that matter, why just 11 guys? If 12 guys is an advantage, why not play more?

I'm obviously taking your point to absurdum but you get the idea. There are rules for reasons, same with the range of pressure for the footballs.

Yep. And that is why the kickers have special balls they use. They were manipulating their balls too much.

As a former QB who was a few (thousands) notches below Brady I can tell ya...yeah, underinflating a little bit def helps holding onto the ball. I would say though that overinflating a ball sucks MORE than underinflating one helps..in my own opinion.

It doesn't]t matter. He's one of the 5 best quarterbacks of all time...and he's a cheater. People that covertly cheat ruin their legacy. He will always be remembered as a guy who cheated to help win an AFC championship game. He denied knowing a thing about it because he didn't want to be forever labeled as a cheater. Well, BUSTED.

Those that defend him on this thread are in the same moral class as him. Probably cheated on their girl friend. cheated on their college entrance exams, and definitely cheat on their income taxes.

It doesn't matter. He's one of the 5 best quarterbacks of all time...and he's a cheater. People that covertly cheat ruin their legacy. Who is defending him? Frankly, I think he's a pompous asshole who SHOULD be punished. But do I think it will "ruin" his legacy? No.

Did it ruin Jerry Rice's legacy that he came out and said he cheated by putting stickum on his gloves?

I think this is a way step down from corking a bad rydawg. When you cork a bat it supposedly will make the ball go further.,

that got pretty hot for awhile. I bet some people lost their asses though after that by trying to capitalize on it and the bubble seemed to burst!

As for killing someone...I dont think Lewis did the killing...but someone in his crew did and he knew much more than what he let out.

Your premise is that if it gives anyone a competitive advantage then it should be allowed.

I likened that to why not let offenses line up their 11 guys ANYWHERE they want? Why not let everyone be in motion when the ball is snapped? Why not let guys in motion be moving towards the LOS like in the Arena Football League?

If any rule should be allowed if it gives some competitive advantage when why not take them all out of the rule book then?

The defense can line up wherever they want and have guys moving at all times. What an unfair advantage.

If you want scores 85-70, allow offenses to have nearly no rules on where to lineup and motion rules, like the AFL.

Playing defense in the NFL is 10x harder than offense for many reasons, one of which thevoice already mentioned.

As opposed to deflating a football against the rules that make it infinitely easier to throw and catch it.

Adding that stickum to his gloves was considered illegal as well, and make it easier to catch the ball and then not fumble when running withthe ball.
