I'd have no real issue with McCoy either. I posted Gil Brandt's comments to Holmgren about people "forgetting Joe Montana" when they see McCoy. I think that's a stretch but I think he could be a pretty good WCO QB.Writerbuckeye wrote:I'm calling BS on this report. McCoy will be the pick, probably in the second round.

Saw most of the presser today, Holmgren/Mangini. I was mildly impressed, greatly impressed from what has been the norm the last several years.
Most of it revolved around building on a core of younger players, emphasizing that they'll probably not have this many draft choices ever again. They will act a lot more before the draft is done, there is no doubt about that. Pretty clear on the QB situation, what each was brought in for and what was relayed as their role.
Also watched Around the Horn, not one panel member has been impressed by the moves made thus far.

What is there to be impressed about? They're basically trading retreads for retreads.

Not that I give a flying fuck about your opinion, but they failed to take into account the number of draft picks we've amassed and the reletive prices they've piad for what they got. It's like calling the game in the middle of the game tied at 7 a piece.

Yeah, I really doubt that Holmgren tips his hand. He was very vague in the presser about drafting a QB.BR1986FB wrote:We're gonna get a lot of this smoke & mirrors stuff before the draft. I like Bradford a lot, but I would really like to wait till next year and make a run on Jake Locker.
IMO if Berry is there at 7, or we have a chance to trade up to get him, we have to do it.

I don't get the Locker love.
Seems like another Anderception in the making to me...except this guy can actually run without looking like a turkey fleeing from the Thanksgiving chopping block.

Locker is largely based on athleticism and potential.
Not sure he has the "it" factor to be a starting QB though.

I watched a couple Washington games last year and Locker really impressed me. He has all the tools and runs a 4.5 40.

Yep. He can make all the throws and is very mobile. I question his decision making....just like Derek Anderson.devil1197 wrote: Locker is largely based on athleticism and potential.

When it comes to the ''it'' factor for a qb, how the hell would you Brown fans know about it. All that's right, you got the genious Holmgren now.:huh:devil1197 wrote: Locker is largely based on athleticism and potential.

Supposedly Russell is in the best shape of his career and is trying to improve his mechanics
Still doesn't belong in the NFL though...What a terrible pick.

Dear Browns please dont waste a high draft pick chasing a qb this draft instead focus on putting pieces in place so we do not have to waste high draft picks on qbs who are destined to fail because they have no support. I can handle Delhomme for a year if this is the plan but if we brought in delhomme and draft a qb in the first round I am done as a fan I wont let myself be dissapointed by this franchise any longer.

I'm curious as to why you like Locker over Bradford. I watched a few of his games and just don't think he's a pro prospect.

The only way to get a long term solution to the qback problem is to draft one early. Better yet, draft 2 qbacks.Dozer wrote: Dear Browns please dont waste a high draft pick chasing a qb this draft instead focus on putting pieces in place so we do not have to waste high draft picks on qbs who are destined to fail because they have no support. Ya can't win in the NFL without a good quarterback. We have accumulated a bunch of draft choices to build the other positions. We need a quarterback.

I love how browns fans say "if they do this I'm done as a browns fan"...How can you even call yourself a browns fan to begin with with that kind of attitude. I'll be a browns fan til the day I die, no matter how much they lose or win.

I agree, but I also understand the frustration that is building up. They have been awful for so long, that it is tough to stomach. In the end, most people that say those type of things don't actually jump off the bandwagonDeyDurkie5 wrote: I love how browns fans say "if they do this I'm done as a browns fan"...How can you even call yourself a browns fan to begin with with that kind of attitude. This is just my opinion and everyone will probably jump all over me...but Locker reminds me of Jevan Snead in the sense that he was really hyped going into the season and then started playing and showing how bad he really was. Now I don't think Locker is as bad as Snead, but think he's way over hyped like Snead was.

Browns aren't gonna be all that bad this year, peeps. The offense should be leaps and bounds above last year if Delhomme stays healthy and regains his confidence.
Still hoping to see one more trade (dump D'Qwell Jackson) before the draft.
They aren't going to be playoff caliber but they ARE going to be better.

Not trying to argue, but no way does Cleveland win 7 games this year.
