Having a "niece" unless you are her primary caregiver doesn't give you any insight on parenting. Go back to your video games and let the adults talk.

Obviously I'm not talking about in this situation. This is abuse, not punishment.

Kudos Chief. A lot of "non-parents" spouting off here. One of my biggest pet peeves is people without kids giving out parenting advice.

Yes, they do. A 4 year old is not stupid. They are perfectly capable of knowing and learning right from wrong and knowing why they are getting punished.

Anyone who believes that 4 years old is too young for physical punishment (hand slapping, light spankings, etc) will end up raising a brat who doesn't know right from wrong. Simple physical punishment can and should start as early as 2 years old. A 2 year old doesn't understand a "talk" when it comes to touching something hot. They understand that if I go near the stove I get smacked on the hand.

This comes from raising 3 boys who range from 8 to 13 years old, that are all 3 VERY respectful young men. The 11 and 13 year old haven't had to be spanked/smacked in years because they are good kids.

Now, I have NEVER even THOUGHT about using a switch on my kids (open hand only). However, my cousins grew up that way (with a switch) they are good/respectful adults.

Now, by the looks of the pictures there is NO DOUBT Peterson went too far. This is EXACTLY why I NEVER spank when I am angry. They might know it is coming later, but I wait until I am calmed down from whatever they did wrong.

Peterson maybe done for the year, especially with the knee jerk reaction the league will make after the Ray Rice thing.

Oh, and a side note, my fantasy season maybe over since he was my first pick.

They don't know better when they are being abused. Spanking a kid on the butt with a hand is up to the parent. Only morons think what AP did is even close to being helpful.

The guy is being charged for a crime for Christ's sake.

You mean Collegiate?

This is what they do - they send the child home and tell them not to come back and mommy and daddy have to figure out why they just spent $20,000 on tuition. Discipline problems are't tolerated...or else the kid goes to public school.

Uh, ok. What is your point? Do you have one? This is potentially worse than the Ray Rice situation. A 4 year old does not deserve to get beaten until they bleed, for any reason. I don't care what the kid does, you don't beat the child to the extent that they have bruises and cuts like this.

This isn't a dumbass comment. If those photos that Sherm posted are correct, AP is looking at a few months in prison, and he's never playing in the NFL again.

Wasn't Vick in prison for 2+ years?

I bet AP plays in the NFL again.

So punching out an adult woman = lifetime ban most likely for Rice.

Beating up a 4 year old defenseless kid = one week suspension?

Kinda this. But he didn't "beat him up."

Pretty much, also keep in mind that the Ray Rice legal process had ended, NFL really won't make a move until legal process completes.

So once that's over and if/when AD is convicted of his crimes, then yes, he will be suspended.
