The lawsuit and settlement are a pretty good possibility. I highly doubt anything will happen criminally.

Yeah, I'll be surprised to see Stewart pay a dime out of his pocket.

People that actually think he intended to hit the kid need to do some reading up on sprint cars.

Not a race fan but i have been to his track in Eldora a couple of times and I easily could see how he was hit and Stewart not see him. I think many who think he did it on purpose are just Stewart haters.

Don't know anything about these type of vehicles, but why would anyone want to leave their vehicle and get that close to such a powerful machine? Even if these are the best drivers in the world, in the best conditions tires blow, mechanical failures happen, and other events that have nothing to do with the driver can cause any vehicle to malfunction.

I can't wrap the idea that someone would willingly put themselves in harm's way like this needlessly. Most people go out of their way to protect themselves.

In today's society, you need to police those who can not think rationally. I foresee all levels of racing have a mandatory suspension for approaching other vehicles on the track. If you do anything then leave your vehicle (other than on fire) for a tow or ambulance you will not race the next week.

Settlements are made all the time in cases where the person being sued would likely win.

Sounds rational to me. Other professional have rules about leaving the bench during altercations. The video means little given my limited knowledge on this type of racing but even the vehicle that missed him came dangerously close to him. In real life during a "road rage" event is it tolerated for someone to run into traffic to make a stupid point?
