As far as explaining it to the kid? Not difficult, that's a parents job and it's not some awkward subject. Just explain that babies survive on mothers milk till they develop enough to start eating other food.

She under a blanket or have a shirt that sort of hides it? My guess is yes. I have yet to see a woman drop shirt and let the baby go at it like that exposed for everyone to see. That I could see thinking well, not something I want to explain to my 7 yr old (though lol you should be able to, he's seen worse on the internet by now). Blanket or some sort of mechanism so her tits are out (both) I can't think of a place where that's not appropriate.

I had no idea the OC, esp Sleeper, were such prudes.

My wife breastfed my two youngest daughters until they were a year old. She did it as discreetly as possible in public all the time and always used a very light cotton covering when she did it.

When animals breastfeed it's no big deal and even kind of adorable. But when a woman uses her tits for what they were actually designed for, some of us get our tightie whities in a bunch.

Because it's natural. Stop being so uptight. It's an opportunity to teach your children something. Pumping is time consuming. It's a bonding experience between mother and child. Many women don't pump because it can cause their breasts to sag. Also, with some women, pumping will cause the milk to dry up quicker than breastfeeding naturally. Stay in your home if something like breastfeeding freaks you out.

If she is covered up completely (maybe even go to the bathroom to make sure she is covered and return with baby eating) I see no problem.

The problem arises when MANY women out there nowadays are taking this "it's natural" thing and literally flop their breast out in public. While, as a grown man, I don't mind, like the OP stated, you shouldn't have to explain that to a small child.

My wife, when she was breastfeeding, if the need arose to feed somewhere in public she would do exactly that, make sure there was no chance of being exposed and feed while covered.

I only see an issue if they are just 'dropping shirt' and exposing themselves.

Once or twice I have, but it is not very often for sure.

Most of the time what I mean are the ones that while not flopping it out, are having only the babies head as coverage. In those cases you are seeing pretty much the whole thing. There are breast feeding shirts, thin blankets, etc that can cover the whole area while breast feeding.

I would say over 90% of women use a cover and breast feed in public in a respectful and dignified way. You have no idea how many times you have been around somebody breastfeeding in public and probably didn't even know.

Don't make a spectacle of it and its a non-issue. If you have issues explaining breast feeding to your child, good luck with the rest of the shit the world is going to throw at them.
