Yep, tonights game is huge. Almost impossible to win a 4 game series when you lose the 1st. Winning tonight shortens the series in a sense. Its still really early, but 4 gamers within the division are always big. You never want to go 1-3 or 0-4 (obviously). Split at worst is how I have always viewed them. Sweeps are really realistic, so 3-1 is kind of what you shoot for, making Game 1's importance even moreso.

McAllister has looked like the ace of the staff thus far. Hopefully he keeps it going.

I am ready for Bauer to take over for Carrasco and see what he can do consistently going every 5th day.

Big, big series.

If Bourn doesn't get his shit together pronto it is time to drop him in this line-up, I don't care what he is making.

Also, where would this team be right now without Brantley and Murphy (who I still think looks like he needs a punch in the face regardless of his production)?

They have 31 of the teams 73 RBI's between them, and are the only regulars batting north of .250 (how pathetic is that).

After hearing for 20 years that KC is close it looks like they are planning on contending this year, so even though it's early this kind of series really matters because with both teams likely to be in the hunt for the WC tie-breakers could loom large in October.

Brantley is currently on pace for a 34 hr/153 rbi season.

It's early of course, but it gives you a good idea of the level he has been producing at this season.

He's also probably kicking himself for signing a majorly below market value extension.

Yeah....he's a bargain. I'm not suggesting he will have anywhere near those kind of numbers but he is very consistent at the plate, in the field and as a base runner.....something we don't have in many other players.
