My god just when I thought you and the rest of your NEO buddies can't get any dumber, you spout off and say something that is beyond the boundaries of pure stupid.

I would find a lawyer and press charges against the electrical company. You won't win, but it might scare them off.

Demand a personal meeting. If you have the balls to confront the power company representative you can (with control and integrity) state your case and just maybe offer a solution. I find that meeting people and issue directly is always in my favor. It’s all about having solution, presenting the facts and being in control.

Pick6 - Ohiochatter's financial guru is recommending you pay a lawyer to get you out of paying your electric bill, which probably won't work.

I have a few lawyer friends that would probably dick around for free just to see if they could get him out of it. Ego is everything.

What's to discuss, he used the product, he needs to pay for it.

I actually like Belly's idea. It may not do Pick any good, but it's worth a try.

Can the power company provide proof that the billing address was correct and that the bills where sent to the proper individual. Mistakes happen and documentation not provided is reason for compromise solution. At this point the power company like the IRS has to get something the question is how much of something are they willing to get? Make them a offer and start from there... if they say you pay the total amount ...... ask them how much of the total will be take out of wasted time and missed court days, delays and counter offers? Look $2000.00 is a drop in the bucket compared to legal fees, personal required to document this situtation.... They be happy to slap your hands with $500.00 and send you on your way home...

They have people, lawyers included, whose job it is to handle such situations. Their incremental cost for pursuing payment is $0.

You can't prove he did anything. I know you went to a 2nd tier University who teaches its students to think inside the box, but I could find some OSU grads that would find a way to forgive the debt. Next time try going to a real school; or at least one that people have heard about outside of Cleveland.

All that has to be proven is that the power was used. That's easy, it's called reading a meter. That there was a billing issue (99.9% the fault of the OP) is of no consequence.

Again, poor people have this mentality and that's why they remain poor. I could find a lawyer who can win this case easily but he probably went to a real school rather than some glorified community college.

Sleeper is just using fucking lawyer speak and trying to suggest the OP gets off on a technicality....one of the million reasons why people fucking hate lawyers

Actually, those of us who actually own the businesses we claim to own have this simple mentality - pay your bills.

Only poor people actually pay bills. No surprise here.
