Doubtful. Vrabel is the one guy you would want to keep.

Take Fick and Coombs too.
I'm very "mad". The DL was the bright spot this year with an extremely young unit. Vrabel was also an all star recruiter and the guys he was lead on for the 2014 are posting things like "this may change things" on Twitter

FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

He was a great recruiter, and thought he did great things with the DL.

Ok I shouldn't say doubtful, but I think Vrabel was destined for the NFL eventually either way.

Thats a bright spot at least. Regardless of what certain posters think, that makes us Playoff contenders next season.

I guess his father called Tim May right after the Vrabel news broke. I like the effort lol

Apparently Soloman Thomas always talked about Vrabel. This is a huge blow to recruiting

I think Thomas is headed to Texas now anyway. Before this.

Fick obviously didn't enjoy recruiting even though he was very good at it.
Wish him the best. Now blow up the rest of the staff too.

Braxton is back officially too.

Being said he wants to coach more and recruit less. Wasn't his favorite part.

@MattFinkes: Still working out a few details, but I will make an announcement regarding my new position at #OSU tomorrow at 920. Thanks #GoBucks

Yea, was just think Vrabel may not want to stay if Fick is on his way out, and jumped on an opportunity for a good job next season

Very big hit to recruiting.

Word on twitter is that Fickell is staying and keeping DC job. Vrabel has just always wanted to be in the NFL. Funny thing is I guess he absolutely hates recruiting and the rules around it.

I think Meyer did just fine while in Florida without Vrabel. Yes, its a bit hit in many ways. But lets not make this out to be more than it is. Asst. coaches come and go all over the place. I doubt OSU loses any big recruits because Vrabel isn't there.

Maybe not anyone thats already committed, but it will have an impact on current targets, mainly Solomon Thomas who has spoken glowingly about Vrabel.

Assistant Coaches are the ones who do the majority of the recruiting with the players, so if he's formed relationships with these kids, that can be enough to get them towards the end where Urban can close.

Remember Urban had amazing recruiters with him in Florida. Charlie Strong, and Dan Mullen to name a few. The head coach is rarely involved in the "day to day" aspect of recruiting, unless its a big target, so losing asst. coaches does hurt most places, especially one who has the back story that the prospects like(NFL guy, multiple rings).

I obviously get all of that. But please give me a list of players who have backed out, or left because an asst. coach has left? And head coaches are more involved in recruiting than you think. They are often the ones who close the door on the recruit. Besides OSU being OSU...Meyer is the guy who has two rings and is known nationally as the coach and one of the top recruiters in the country. He is relentless in recruiting. Any void left, he will fill it and I am not at all concerned.

I said in the first line, many players already committed may not leave but it will affect the uncommitted players, especially this late in the session.

And if I had the time I'd work on a list of players but it really isn't worth my time, but if you think losing one of the best recruiters on the team, and one who was the lead recruiter for a couple of our targets left for this year, isn't that big of a deal you're crazy.

Urban may be relentless, but there are only so many hours in the day, and he's only one person.

When Vince Marrow left Nebraska for Kentucky last year a four star DB decommitted from Nebraska and went to Kentucky. I also believe he was part of the reason why Braylon Heard found his way to Kentucky from Nebraska. So yes, it can happen but I don't think Nebraska and OSU are in the same league right now when it comes to recruiting.
