Catching Fire. Very good, ending was weird though.
Wife said it had to end that way because of the books (I haven't read them)
7/10

There is a lot of hate for Kevin Costner in the world, but I am a big fan of his and this is a great movie. I couldn't even begin to calculate how many times my friends and I quoted that line when we were younger.vball10set;1609492 wrote:Clear the mechanism.
While on the subject, I just watched another Kevin Costner classic, Mr. Brooks, the other day. The movie as a whole is filled with far too many twists and turns and subplots that it ultimately is a preposterous concept, but Costner and William Hurt -- as Costner's alter-ego, Marshall -- are so good that it really doesn't even matter. One of the better dark comedies -- in the vein of American Psycho, though certainly nowhere near as good -- out there, at least in terms of films dealing with serial killers.

Heavyweights was one of Ben stillers best movies and is grossly underrated. I think his character in that had some inspiration for his character in Dodgeball.

That's what I was referring to, yes...I was watching it while I typed it, so I thought I'd post the line in lieu of the movie name. I knew anyone that liked it would know it.Mohican00;1609520 wrote:You mean, "For the love of the game"?

I honestly hated For Love of the Game.
However, I just watched Draft Day, and I actually liked him in that.

You could argue it was a sappy plot line, but as far as sports movies involving actors doing their own "stunts" (for lack of a better word), you'd be hard pressed to find one better than Costner playing Billy Chapel...jmo.O-Trap;1609626 wrote:I honestly hated For Love of the Game.

Im saying in actually perfroming his own "stunts". That golf swing is ACTUALLY pretty damn flawless, considering he isnt very good.vball10set;1609727 wrote:He was good, but not better. Again, my opinion.
His pitching motion in FLOTG is pretty good, but has more "Issues" than the golf swing. Also, Costner cant throw the ball more than 60mph, I would guess lol

and I'd venture to say 60 is pushing it-lol...I think it's safe to say that we both agree that he's pretty good in sports movies overallLaley23;1609747 wrote:Im saying in actually perfroming his own "stunts". That golf swing is ACTUALLY pretty damn flawless, considering he isnt very good.

Just felt like a love story wrapped loosely in sports scenes. I was hoping the sports side of things would play a more focal role.vball10set;1609632 wrote:You could argue it was a sappy plot line, but as far as sports movies involving actors doing their own "stunts" (for lack of a better word), you'd be hard pressed to find one better than Costner playing Billy Chapel...jmo.
Not a bad movie for what it was. I just didn't care for that.

I saw "Draft Day" with Kevin Costner on Saturday at a matinee with my wife. (It still cost me 16 bucks to get in the damn door and another 20 at the concession stand) I honestly can say, if you are an NFL football fan, you will love this movie. As a Browns fan I of course was intrigued by the film. (Though watching it this close to the draft, I have a feeling it will give me this false sense of things will be amazing, when I know they wont.)
The acting was solid throughout, it was very very believable, and the plot had an ending...but you just didn't know HOW it was going to GET to the ending that you already KNEW would happen. Which made the film entertaining. I almost immediately knew what was going to happen at the end.....but the journey to GET there is what made it fun.
Also the yellow piece of paper that is presented at the beginning of the film adds a nice twist to how things actually pan out in the end....
The only part I laughed audibly at and commented on out loud (which drew laughs from the other 7 people at the show) was when the fans at the after party started chanting Superbowl......which in turn I looked at my wife and said: Shouldn't they be chanting 8 and 8?"
Overall 4-5 Stars in my book, Ill watch it again when it comes out on DVD with my old man who is a big Browns fan like myself....just for the Fantasy of it all.
I truly hope this film has the "Major League" effect on the Browns.....and suddenly they turn it around and are good again....but they are the Browns.....I love em....but they hate me!

Got around to watching Limitless (2011).
I always seem to end up liking Bradley Cooper's roles, and this was no exception. Even though the basic plot has been around since Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, they kept it current and engaging. 8/10.

Playoffs for the browns soon. This year probably closer to 8-8/9-7 and then true contenders next season
