I have a question. A while back someone said that Forrest Gump doesn't stand the test of time or something to that affect. I was just hoping someone could explain that to me.

I don't care for the movie either, but I believe MB said something about it not standing the test of time.

It's maudlin fluff.....a sappy hallmark movie that has no real character outside of being a heartwarming tale for baby boomers.

Ah yes. I understand and I can agree with that idea with certain movies. I mean I enjoyed Mortal Kombat when I was a teenager but I tried watching it the other day and I could barely watch 15 minutes of it. I enjoy Forrest Gump. I'm not saying I want to watch it on a daily basis but I do like to watch it once or twice a year.

Eh, it was ok when it came out, but the movie doesn't hold up. It certainly wasn't better than Shawshank Redemption or Pulp Fiction.

It is maudlin and painful to watch 20 years later. It is so manipulative and just a circle-jerk for baby-boomer history reinventions.

The acting is fine, the filming is fine....the story is stupid. You have a retard that in any event would be the most popular person in the USA (All-American football player - forget he didn't get drafted to the NFL, war hero and Medal of Honor recipient, shrimp executive, world class runner, ping-pong champion), but he can just walk around and no one knows who he is.

Even for fantasy it is a silly film....at least they didn't throw him in outer space with a monkey like the book.

-short edit, the way it treated AIDS was borderline offensive....it just sort of glossed it over.

^ I can't disagree with that. It's just one of those movies I enjoy watching despite it's obvious flaws.

The Wolverine (2013) Just watched on HBO. "In Japan and vulnerable for the first time....."

The new wolverine movie is comparable to the last superhero movie watched in Man Of Steel. Fun but still slightly a let down.

22 Jump Street 8/10. I only saw the first one once, but I really liked the sequel. It was just as funny, IMO.

Jenny later reveals that she is ill and is suffering from an unknown virus with no cure (heavily implied to be H.I.V)

I've seen it, and there is no other description that accurately describes it other than to say "it's some fucked up shit."

Made Requiem for a Dream seem like the music video for Everything Is Awesome.

I was skeptical of this one, but you steered me right with Chef. If I get a chance imma see dis.

Watched What About Bob. Been about 20 yrs or so since I've seen this and it held up. I was highly entertained.

I watched Gravity and Her on a flight last week. Gravity I'd give 8/10. Was more intense than I expected. Just one disaster after another. Her I would give a 4. It just kind of dragged. I didn't even finish it.

It has gotten high marks from a lot of people I know who have seen it. If it's slow, though, I have to wonder what they saw in it.

fwiw, I gave Gravity a 4/10, and only because Sandra Bullock looked good in her under garments....I thought it pretty much sucked.

I didn't think gravity sucked but I didn't think it was great. 6.5/10. It entertained me and it was something different.
