You need to use the "intelligence" card when it comes to defending a guy as "career superior" when he's mainly known for putting up great fantasy numbers in the average, mundane regular season game and then hilariously choking in the clutch whenever he plays in a big-time (national prime-time TV, playoffs) game. Carson Palmer 2.0, except with a lot more opportunities to fail in high-profile situations.
It's an interesting argument, though. One guy has the edge as far as cold, hard stats, so he turns on geeks and robots; while the other guy has the edge in intangibles, so he works better for people who actually care about winning games and making plays when it counts.
Reason Romo has the edge on Ben right now is because, as the team in general has downgraded, so has his ability to be reasonably consistently clutch down the stretch. Seems like over this year and last, he's really struggled to deliver that big drive in the fourth quarter of close games like he was able to do in previous years.
