Last year he carried them to playoffs.

But it is comparing the 2.

Richardson is a bust, the Browns made a GREAT move by attempting to get their pick back, and being able to use it again on someone who will actually be able to help the team.

AP leads the Vikings to wins, getting a pick for him does nothing for that team except set them further back.

If the vikes think they are a QB away from being very competitive, I wouldn't do it. If not, I would def listen to offers for AP. As I have said before, RBs are dime a dozen. Yes, AP did carry them to the playoffs last year, but it took a near record breaking performance to do that, and it was for a first round exit. You simply don't build NFL teams around RBs anymore.

RBs are a dime a dozen, AP is not. I agree that you don't build your team around a RB and I'm not going to pretend to know a lot about the Vikings, but I don't see a positive for trading AP unless they trade rape someone.

Vikings D is horrible, they need a WR, they need an O-line.

You can improve a lot of those and still pick up a viable RB.

So congrats, ap got them to a first round exit. Once every what? 5 years?

I say you shop him, see what you can get.

Exactly, he got them to a first round exit and it took a near record breaking performance to do so. Like I said, if they are a QB away, they don't trade him, but if they think they have a lot of holes, I would trade him. By the time they fix those holes, AP will be done.

In AP's 6 years, the Vikings have been to the playoffs 3 times. They are 1-3 in the playoffs. Obviously, the Vikings were a much better team the first few years. I'm not saying they shouldn't trade AP, I'm just saying they would need to get quite a bit more than the Browns got for Trent Richardson. TRich is a dime a dozen RB, AP is more than that.

Agreed. I'd say that they would at least need to get a player at a position of need that could start, and a 1st and a 3rd. I just dont see the value in a pick or 2 right now. You are trading a known HOF player, for the unknown in picks.

A known HOFer sure, but in a position that has become almost obsolete in the NFL.

A first and a third plus a starting, say, RT IS WAYYYY more valuable in the NFL today than a RB, even if he is the best in the business.

Listening to Bill Polian on M&M, he seems to think trading AP right now would be a good move for Minnesota. It'd be similar to the T-Rich trade (not at all comparing Trent to AP), in that they would get ridiculed for it, yet it might be the best move for the franchise.
I could see that. What contenders have a dire need for a RB atm?

Depends what GMs are smart and which are stupid.

The patriots aren't stupid but they would probably love to take some of the attention off Brady and his horrid receivers and add AP. They more than likely would rape the Vikings though because thats what they do smh.

I don't think it's obsolete, backs have just become interchangeable for the most part. A decent back is a decent back anymore, but guys like AP still have a lot of value. At 4.7 YPC, that's valuable.

Incorrect. Polian was totally against trading AP right now. He even mentioned an old quote from I think Marv Levy saying you dont trade a guy who can help you, and AP can help you win. One of the Mikes, maybe both, thought maybe it would be a good idea. Polian said that if there was a bona fide cant miss franchise style QB in the upcoming draft then MAYBE you would consider it (he then mentioned how he told Irsay that Luck was one of those guys then was fired/let go a few days later) but he doesnt see a QB coming out this or next year that is as much as a lock as you can realistically get

So valuable that he can get a team with. Good Brett favre to the playoffs, or a team with a really good defense to the playoffs.

But still lose first round.

I'm not denying aps value, the point is if you can shop him and get a really good return, it's worth looking at.

I laughed.

But I don't think any contenders are in dire need. I guess it just comes down to what the ransom is. If I'm the Vikings I have to start to wonder how many years AP has left, and what I could potentially get for him. I'm sure the guy has value for the franchise because of what he does on the field and his name. He's a legitimate star and an easy hall of fame player. But he doesn't necessarily bring them closer to a championship at this point.

Yeah, I was watching having my coffee when they were talking about it. I was kind of surprised he was against it because they brought it up to him that if they could get the top pick next year would he do it to land a QB and he said no, and basically that if there was a guy like luck then maybe he would, but said Luck is once in a generation type of pick in his eyes.

Just wanted to get the correct info out there for those commenting on it.

And I said what that good value is, I didn't disagree with that. It's just that there are no surefire players in the draft that will give the Vikings the value that AP gives them in the next few years. He has a 7 year deal, but I would say he has a good 2-3 seasons left of being elite, then you dump him when he becomes average. someone will pay for the name and past production.

And they lost in OT in the NFC Championship with Favre.

I wouldn't trade AP. The Vikings suck but its not because of AP. I can't even name a player outside of AP on that team that's any good.

Richardson wasn't that great and the stats don't lie.

That is another reason Polian said they shouldnt trade him as it may be a great fit for the two.

Okay so they'll enjoy his 2-3 seasons of being an elite RB and mayyyybe they'll reach the second round of the playoffs. Like what they did with favre, where they won ONE playoff game. 👍👍
